What mods count as cheating?
So I'm new to modding my game, and I need some advice on mods that are cheats or not.

Does it do something not allowed? Its cheating. Its it just a HUD? Its not cheating.

officially or pr opinion?
officially:anything that allows you to cut the corners in a dishonest way is cheat. no insta lvl, no insta unlock, no insta-loot, no insta-nothing.
but gamechanging mods like dmg-modifiers, skins of any kind, ingame guides/huds/wizards etc is ok. im pretty sure even no-clip is ok as long as you dont go directly to the vault and grab your cash. tbh tho.. i think thats ok in some weird way.Ovk dont think its ok you bypass the game as it is,but you can bend it to your will.
Just dont take that BS to public games.. do the BS in your own games and youre in the clear(not from being frowned upon )

People debate whether things are cheating

these people are mentally challenged

Nobody will care what you use unless you use a certain trainer (and even then, there's nothing they can do about it lel)

Just use whatever you want.

Please be civil, no need to throw insults. Consider this a warning.

^ As the developers have said, common sense is the best guide.

But if you're looking for a rough guide:

- Blacklist:
Mods that give you godmode, give you infinite ammo, spawn lootbags, or instantly complete heists are considered cheating by the developers and can get you in trouble. Unlocking achievements without earning them and piracy (unlocking content that normally requires payment to use) are also very much against the rules.

- Gray Area:
Mods that change the mechanics and potentially make the game easier, but don't fall under the category of "obviously cheating".. -- like CarryStacker (lets you carry more than one loot bag at a time), SilentAssassin (lets you change/circumvent the Pager system), BetterBots (adjusts the stats/behaviour of bots to make them more effective than not using mods), etc -- ..are considered cheating by some players and not considered cheating by others, but they are not outright "illegal." As long as you're not ruining others' gaming experience by forcing your gameplay preferences on people who don't want it, you should be fine.
These types of mods are generally best kept to your own lobby, set to Private or Friends Only but you won't get in trouble.

- Whitelist:
Mods that do not change the mechanics/difficulty of the game are harmless and most people won't even know that you're using them. Custom skins, Huds, character mute mods, etc.
**If you get a mod that spams chat (I think PocoHud did at one point? I forget which, I don't use huds), turn off the option that is causing spam or refrain from using it in public lobbies, or you risk getting kicked from games. A lot.
@OP In the future, it's helpful to check the stickied threads. The one named "Rules and useful information! (Newcomers read this first!)" has this question listed in its FAQ and links to Almir's response. Cheers, though :chains:

Making a full list of cheats and non-cheats would take ages. Just use common sense. If something is obviously cheating and makes the game a lot easier, don't use it. If it ruins the game for other players, don't use it. If it unlocks all DLC or something similar, don't use it.

Does stuff like ABAP (lets you put any boost on any gun) and more attachment mods count as cheating?

I'd say it's kinda on grayarea, where it gives some bonuses you aren't supposed to have but other players won't really see it.

But that's my opinion tho.

Does it mark you as a cheater?

Ok then, I'll stay away from these mods till there are further confirmation.

They don't. Only DLC and skin unlockers and duplicating bags trigger the anticheat. And even so, i think I saw Zdann say somewhere that the only skin unlockers that trigger the anticheat are Legendary skin unlockers.

Don't use any third party programs at all and you don't have to worry if you are cheating or not.
