Save file location
Just install OS on another SSD. I have already set steam folder in setting to detect game files.
What i want to know is, if i start the game will it overwrite my save file? Or does the steam cloud automatically download save file onto my new ssd? If the save file is not automatically set on my new ssd, how do i get the save file and to get the game to detect it.

Reason im asking is, im pretty sure if i start the game, it will make a new save file as if im a new player and thus delete all my previous save stuff in the steam cloud. I do not want to start over. Does anyone have experience doing this? Thx for helping

Your save files are located in Steam's userdata folder.

But it shouldn't delete any of your cloud saves. This is exactly what Steam Cloud is for, after all.

So do i need to set in game or i dont need to do anything since i already set the steam client folder. Im afraid the game will replace cloud save with new player save if i start the game, that is why i hope someone that have experience doing this to help. Really not looking forward to reclimb to xxv.

ive done this many many times. steam cloud will download your profile progress, thats what its for, so you dont have to manually save files somewhere. however, it has flaws even when youre not doing what you are doing, and save file can get corrupted or overwritten by mistake, or bug, or something else. thats why good practice is to always have your file backed up. you only need one file, it contains your progress. it is called "save098.sav" and it is located in steam userdata folder as someone already mentioned.
