Constant stuttering during heists
I've been playing this game for over a week and didn't have this problem until now. The game stutters every 3 seconds and no matter what I do with video settings nothing seems to change it.

My PC is way above avarage specs. I play GTA 5 online smoother then this. I've noticed more people had this problem but I haven't found any universal fix, can any one help?

I've had a problem like this since I installed the game, it's gotten worse with every update. Sometimes it settles down but it starts up again randomly. Certain heists are worse than others, Birth of Sky is just horrible for it. The only thing that helped in the past was installing the lower shadow map mod, but it's outdated and attempting to use it crashes the game AFAIK. I don't know what else to try.

Thanks for your reply, sadly it seems to happen even onthe smallest "Diamond Store" hesit. All my drivers are updated and I tweaked to settings but to no avail.

It seems to work stable now for no reason (I have no changed any thing yet) so I guess it's just a matter of time until it happens again.

Same thing here, the game can stutter like crazy. It's not your specs, it's the game.

Windows 7
i7 5930k
16 GB 2400 mhz RAM
GTX 980 ti Gamer Edition

Lower the maximum framerate. The game runs on one core. If the core is overloaded it will stutter. That would be the first thing id try.

And before you say, "but i have a 5000$ dollars computer" or something. The game is so heavy on the CPU I hardly think it really matters.

I always thought Payday 2 runs on 2 cores, since I have 4 cores and it takes 50% of my CPU while running. Also in crash log it mentions only 2 cores instead 4.

On 30 fps the game still stutters the same as on 60 fps. Besides, even if that would fix the problem, I would rather play on 60 fps with stutters than on 30 fps.

I have all my cores unparked. If the game decides to only use one core, then there's not much I can do about that as far as I know.

Oh well, I've come to accept it.

What I mean is that by default the game is set at 135 fps I think. If you run it at 60 just lower it at 90 to give your cpu a chance. Never meant to suggest 30 fps. xD

Try lowering the corpse limit.

Fairly sure it's that, even before any bodies are made. Just a hunch.

I'll try that as well. Thanks for the tip.

I also usually recommend lowering the corpse limit, but that's when people are having fps issues. It helps with that, but not at all with the stutters, at least not with the stutters I was talking about.

Yeah haha ok, sorry I misunderstood, I always lock games to just below my refresh rate so I thought you meant to go lower than that. You're right, I believe the game defaults to 135 fps.

Allright done that, not sure if this fixed it, since the stutter seems to come and go so I won't be sure until later, but this is the probably the best advice on here. I applied it, we'll see if the stutter ever decides to come back, I will update here tomorrow if I didn't get any troubles in that time.

Not sure why they would make the game that way, seems quite idiotic if you ask me.

To everyone else: I already fiddled with the video settings, putting everything on low doesn't help. No corpses, shadows or whatever.

What's funny is PDTH runs like butter on my PC, is it the same engine as PD2? I just hope PD3 doesn't use Diesel.

Stutter seems to have ended. Thanks Lancelot and Nevander.

Well RIP me then because I've tried the same stuff in this thread multiple times and no luck. I guess there's some unknown problem with my CPU/GPU or drivers. But I will never know because I can't read drivers with my mind.
