Are hud mods really necessary?

After 300 hours I've missed a timer for the ecm duration and other stuff, but I like the default hud keeping it simple. So, should I try a hud mod, like the wolfhud? If so, can u guys tell me where to download it?
Also, I've seen a few videos about 'reskining' weapons. are this ok in terms of policy? (download link too if so).

If your going to download wolfhud go to github, the other ones not that i know of are fixed, they have alot of bugs which makes you crash ex:swan song

Only if u want additional info about the mission/job ur playing. The standart HUD gives enough info. If u want ur HUD to look different, meening cosmetic changes, thats ur decision.

Personal preference, but don't come crying about your game crashing 50 times in a hour.

Reskinning

Installing weapon skin from modworkshop is perfectly fine, but skin unlocker is not.

They're not necessary, they are basically a visual change, and for some of them, just a few more tidbits of info that you don't really need.

No. Overkill has a very lax stance with modding. Every mod except obvious cheats (godmode/infinite ammo/unlocking all achievements) are allowed.

Looking at the AMA, it looks like he didn't even know that there's a thread on the modding subforum saying that they aren't allowed. Unfortunately, it ended a minute after, so I didn't have time to tell him that.

I personally don't like the default HUD, so I use MUI Hud, a minimalistic HUD with a ton of customization options. It's meant for players that don't need assistance from the HUD to play. I use it mainly because it's slick, simple, and it liberates the screen from junk that you don't need, and it makes PAYDAY 2 video footage much more gorgeous.
