New sniper rifle - Dragunov SVU.

True, but compared to the stealth weapons we already have, it's not much different.

It's generally viewed as a designated marksman rifle. All the snipers in the game are bolt action and the SVD is half auto. So I doubt it would be classified as a sniper.

Sniper rifles are only stupid if your bad at aimming and if we work by your logic, we can only have new shotguns and grenade Launchers‎.

I really doubt that they would add a designated marksman rifle class to the game when they can just add it as a sniper rifle and if they added it as a assault rifle, they would be mocked to death.

M308, Gewehr 3 and Falcon rifle fall roughly in the same category of DMR/Battlerifle. So judging by that, they could easily put a SVD in as AR.

Unlike the M308, Falcon and Gewehr 3, the SVD is not a battle rifle with a DMR variant but I guess they could add it as DMR kit for the AKs rifles.

You can sort of make your own Dragunov already:

AK.762 w/ DMR kit, scope mount, sight of your choice, and wooden sniper stock

Granted I know the Dragunov and Dragunov SVU are two different weapons (I believe the latter is a modern bullpup version of the former)

To be fair,the DMR kit is a Zastava M76 barrel,and the thumbhole stock is from a PSL-54C,so we don't get an actual SVD
