Nice ask though.
Lan is less complicated and would only take a minor adjustment.
I think companies are just worried about piracy. Forcing you to play online so you cant have a lan with a cracked version.
in other news, i think an overhaul of the server side of this game would be well worth the effort. granted it is a big project, consider the following
if there was one single thing that i think overkill could do to improve the overall quality of the game, this would be it. without question, i would take this update over ANY DLC because it would improve the quality of the game (and more importantly, the multiplayer experience) immensely.
here's to hoping
Actually... I could recall a friend making either Hamachi or Tunggle to work... with Payday 2 .... (or was it Payday TH?), but I think the method would warrant a ban from Steam.
Lets not debate the function of hamachi and accept its not going to work.
ALso @ Game Mechanic.
Totally agree! The syncing was worse after they aparently fixed it with the historical pack update.
Witch confused me because I thought the game send packets directly to other players.
Since the servers come from a player making a game. And in your network options it has a checkbox to send packets via the other players if connection to the host is slow.
So.. This is a direct connection to the host, WHY! are the there syncing issues.
But if the connection to players is via steam server then maybe thats the problem. Should be direct to the host. Syncing issues would probably be fixed and then you could also just have the option to specify an IP to connect to enabling you to connect directly to LAN ip address.
I mean look at Quake 3! Old games but I can run it and just type "map (mapname)" and ppl from other countries and ppl in the same house can join no worries. If your local you get a ping of 1, net a ping of 40ish and overseas a ping of 300.
But in payday 2 you get syncing issues playing with the person sitting next to you. WTF?
Direct connection to the host please!
This would improve the game more than any heist could, because honestly overkill you're seriously fooling yourself if you don't think the connection issues the game has is not off-putting to new players. Only people who _really_ like the game will stick around and put up with the issues. If you're just kinda here to check out the game, it is enough to get you to stop playing the game and never come back.
