That's just plain.. poppycock!
It's sorta possible, just takes a bit of an extra step to set a new grip animation if a certain weapon modification is used.
Working on it, deal is I can't quite make new animations due to a lot of limitations in modding when it comes to new assets. Being forced to use the RPK/Aug's grip animation led to some.. interesting results.

At least it kinda shows it's possible to have the game check if a certain weapon mod is equipped and apply a new grip animation if said weapon mod is there.
