Same here, persistant black screen. Only way to remove it was by closing my computer via the keyboard. Control Alt Delete did nothing, as well as Alt Tab. No crash file.

Windows 98 isn't an officially supported OS. XP is one though.

XP is...or was able to run Payday 2 and is a listed OS on the store page

XP IS supposed to be supported. Look up the minimum and recommanded specs. And I know it was a joke, but it was a bad one.

Clicked play, 2 - 3 seconds later black screen, No sound no nothing, Couldn't alt tab or ctrl alt del.
No crash log.
