It should be implemented. All that it would take is an adjustment to coding, using half of the current firing animation, and it's done. At least, that's how it SEEMS like it would work. Though they'd probably also need to add in a "Custom" tab to the pistols like with the ARs to have the pistol bound to single fire, burst fire, or toggle. (Default key: V, just like with the ARs.)
I SERIOUSLY hope the Overkill can make this happen. It'll bring Akimbo Pistols' viability WAAAAY up from being able to control when you burst, and saving SO MUCH ammunition. Right now, with bigger pistols, you miss about 35% (and I'm being generous here) of your shots using heavier pistols on DW and below.
Like many other features, they were simply too lazy.
I wouldn't even mind them splitting the current one into two separate ones until a "proper" one is made. Tripwire got it right with Killing Floor and Killing Floor 2.
