Ranged Tyranids too strong?
Hi, i've been playing campaign coop veteran with my friend and we're getting destroyed by the ranged tyranids. Just 2 tyranids are enough to melt 80% of our HP in 3 seconds, and taking cover doesn't help much (especially on the moving platform mission).
Is there a way to better fight them or is it just a balancing issue?

I think this might be a case of skill issue, i played on veteran also. Ranged nids are annoying but not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for me.

Ranged Tyranids, easy to kill, not the biggest threat, unless you are talking about the flying brain.

Ranged Chaos marines, stupidly hard to deal with, teleporting around and have melee units with shields that can actually tank hits.

There is a situation that happens sometimes and i just cant figure out what to do. The situation is that i have no armor but only ranged threats are left and they destroy my health in seconds. I have no other option than to hide myself and wait 25 seconds until the armor regenerates and that kills the flow of the game for me. Its the only situation i still have trouble with and is most likely my death.

Snipers or just those spray and pray tyranids? i found serpentine/dodging around works quite effectively. Ignore the first useless comment.

Campaign set piece are "mostly" fair, just keep at it and you should be fine.
Co-Op random massive hoard on the other hand...

With the ranged minoris enemies, the damage should be small enough that you can easily gain the contested health back with your own ranged shots. If you are using a melta, you will appreciate the very small amount of chip damage they do, as you can use that to overheal the contested health.

This is what I'm talking about. I don't think It's a skill issue, I can manage to finish the fight using finishers invulnerability, that's not the point. The point is going from 100 to 10 HP in 2 seconds .

Snipers are easy to deal with, I'm talking about the spray and pray guys, yes.

I find it funny no one mentions the spore mine throwers. Yes you can break them, but these guys shoot out 3 - 4 of them EACH per warrior and they can spam it. It's dreadful and the area of effect they have is larger than the visual representation of the spore mine. The snipers also have a really annoying habit of shooting twice rapidly back to back and it's physically impossible to dodge it if your character decides to roll rather than sidestep (not all characters get a sidestep if they're mid-sprint). You don't have time. They also have an attack that seems to go through perfect parries intermittently that's marked as a blue parry attack.

Take down the Warriors with Barbed Stranglers and Venom Cannons first. (Barbed Warriors are not even really so much a threat as annoying cause their Barb blobs slow you down and eat precious armour pips, if you have a spare moment, you can shoot their Barb spawn points to destroy them, looks like a little volcano in the middle of blade wire on the ground.)

You can just shoot the little rats a few times and they will die (if they survive the synapse link breaking when you kill Warriors). Dodge while fighting. You can spot when a Warrior is about to shoot with a Venom cause it has a tell tale yellow line that aims toward you, when it starts to, dodge.

Obviously, strategy isn't really part of the discussion here but this has literally always been the case. You only kill as much of the swarm individually as you have to, the majoris are always the primary targets. Hence the classification. Also they're very much a threat and you're playing on low difficulties if you think they aren't XD on difficulty 3 and up 2 spore mines will drain your health almost as fast as an extremis. They're super overtuned and there's never just 2 of them, there's usually like 15 at any given time because of the amount they throw out.

They telegraph the shots very well so should not be an issue to dodge.

You shouldn't leave the ranged for last.

This, if you're playing a class with high ranged damage your FIRST priority in a normal fight with majoris and minoris only is to focus ANYTHING with a ranged attack. It's the only way the squad will survive. Ranged enemies are death by a thousand cuts. You can recoup armor and health in melee, in ranged competition you WILL lose that fight. You cannot hit hard enough barring very specific weapons at long distances to keep up with the contested health even with a bulwark with 50% contested health speed.

Ranged little tyranids come every now and then, and when you're dealing with 10 around you its hard to focus on the 2 little ones that just came behind you and started shooting you. :steamsad:

I try to take out the spores first thing when I see them. They can also be dodged, but once you start dodging one you have to dodge all of them.
