What to expect of the Neo Volkite Pistol?
According to their roadmap, the next big update adds a Neo Volkite Pistol but how will it differntiate itself from the others?

According to Lore, it´s a thermal ray gun which burns itself through Flesh and Powerarmor in a display of ash and jetting fire upon contact.

Judging from this, I assume it will be a pocket Las Fusil. A precision weapon with high damage but very little ammo and a slow firerate to balance it out against the Bolt amd Plasma Pistols.

What are you thinking?

Hmm I would actually think it's more like a pistol sized melta ?
Not sure though

I have no expectations but big hopes it will contest bolt gun being best side weapon and not plasma gun being mediocre side weapon at best.

A pistol sized Melta is called an Inferno Pistol. Wouldn´t mind that either.

Probably a strong single target weapon that isn't able to handle wave clear at all.

That´s how I imagine it to work, as a anti elite weapon.
Maybe giving it to the Bulwark and/or Assault class?

In Warhammer 40k Boltgun there was the Volkite Caliver and it was basically a laser beam weapon that easily wiped the floor with fodder enemies and easily melted Chaos space marines. If the pistol turns out similar to the caliver in boltgun it will most likely be good for dealing with swarms of hormagaunts, termagants, tzaangors, and cultists while still being an effective weapon for taking care of tyranid warriors and chaos space marines.

The Caliver is such a ridicioulsly powerful weapon, which I always reserved for Ambulls, Termis and Greater Demons.

Implementing it in the same way here, would make any other sidearm and even some Primary weapons redundant.

Yeah they should definiteily tone it down if it is going to be similar to it

I was wondering if it was going to act like a pocket shotgun.

Hey OP!

Just wanted to post an image for you and anyone that came here looking. I apologize for using image hosting - I am unsure of how to post an image correctly here.

This is from Boltgun. Games Workshop has been doing pretty well over the years with insuring weapons operate and / or look the same in the games that I've played of theirs. This weapon is a Volkite weapon in the form of a rifle utilized by a first gen marine.

I personally expect what you mentioned... a ray of precision light. Maybe not orange, since there is a difference in the Volkite to Neo Volkite deal.

Well, half the bolter weapons and the powerfist are redundant so they`re certainly capable of messing this up. There is no weapon balance at all in this game for now.
