There really isn't much of a grind in this game, thankfully. And it's VERY slow paced compared to CoD and stuff. You absolutely cannot play the game like a Cod or BF game you will lose every fight. It's much more about running in a team cause as soon as you run up to another group you're done if you're solo. You get ripped to shreds. Need to play the game differently than other games you have played. Don't just run into the combat, make use of the dive mechanic, you can still block/parry, take your time in the fight, it's not about K/D ratio, it's about winning.

Short answer: No

Long answer: 3 maps, 3 game modes (essentially KotH, TDM, Domination) no skill based match making or ranking system (Launch has been a nightmare of one-sided matches as newbies are thrown up against people who have been playing early access for a week), nothing to really strive for as far as goals or interesting unlocks.

You're either working towards cosmetics which are finished around 35 wins with a class. (Which can also be earned in PvE) Or weapon unlocks that are tied to a much grindier system that will take on average more than 200 matches to finish. The only "skill" based pvp unlock in the entire game is a single achievement for getting 5 kills in a single life, everything else is a participation trophy grind. Nothing for favoring a particular gun (All the gun based mastery progression is only in PvE), or getting a ton of kills or objectives captured.

Highly team based combat (In a game with no SBMM), the skill ceiling for aiming is rather low, it's mostly on positioning and skill/equipment usage.

The games main draw is it fulfills the 40k fantasy, it is a beautiful game, and if you're a fan of the universe you'll probably love it. But the actual mechanics and systems are pretty mid compared to other non-40k games.

I mean i enjoy the pvp but for it to be your exclusive draw? i mean... if you like space marines yes... but otherwise no? at least not for a season or two while we wait for more content and maps

Simply no. PVP is mediocre at best. Only three modes, bad balance and all maps are mostly the same gameplay.
Sounds like a good time for you to get into Counter-Strike.

pvp is bare bones, but fun imo, but really does need QOL improvements, if they could get hold of redoing the first games multiplayer maps, let lobbies your in able to mix up players, so your not stuck with the same players on each side, stats tracking, better end round finish ect ect
