As title said, I seemly can't do any damage to him. Is this a bug a something?

If that's the boss I'm thinking of (Junk Robot IIRC?) I think the way it works is you have to do enough damage in a short time span to force the bug thing inside to come out, giving you a chance to damage it. I originally couldn't defeat the boss because the character I was using (Cinnamon) didn't have any good damage options and was too focused on self healing. I was able to make it work by switching to Droit and using a Sprayer combined with her shield, which also damages enemies.
Yeah it's a DPS race to get him to reveal his weakness. Come back with a more OP kit.

I'm not going to say this is the mandatory strat for this, but I think it works as an alternative. Max up S class Zero. You should have the resources to get everything for him, including DNA and a good melee card set. If not a melee set, there are also come celebration themed cards on the events section of the store that give flat damage and defense buffs. Pick a good melee weapon (because Zero's passives buff melee damage) and maybe a buster or a ranged weapon of your choice in case you need to move out of melee range for a bit.

S class X is a great alternative too because both his skills do great damage, and his shield can stay up for a long while. You just have to settle for busters instead, to benefit from his buster passive buffs.

This boss has a first phase where it doesn't register damage, but he's actually receiving it. Or at least, the outer part of it is getting damaged. Just keep pressure and eventually you will be able to damage the boss proper. Both phases of the boss can count as sort of DPS checks, which is why it's important to never let up the damage.

If you're on this stage probably you can do some events already, try again with a more powerful character (who you're using by the way?). If you're lazy you can use S Zero but the event characters already surpassed him at this point.
I don't think you need to do a LOT to crush this grind wall, but at this point in the game you were able to just play through with a good kit and skills without worrying about your grindstats so you're probably a bit behind on them. All you might need is to level up your guns and maybe do a run or two at Dive Trigger upgrade stage to boost your stats up, but switching to a big DPS char for this level just to punch through couldn't hurt.
Appreciated everyone. I managed to beat it with third armor X. I didn't know about dps check and was confused when i couldn't damage him. Turning out, just keep spamming attacks to him and voila, it 's done
Are you guys talking about that stupid eyeball-in-a-crystal boss from X2? ♥♥♥♥ that guy.
Nah, it was about the old robot (Pararoid S38s) - which is also a sub-boss in MMX2, in stage 22-3. Yours is Magna Quartz at stage 17-3
I am absolutely losing my mind on Old Robot. What keeps happening is when he does that junk drop and absorb it's actually healing him. You need to do a stupid amount of DPS to defeat him.

Edit: Typo

Ugh....I came on here for help on getting a full 3-stars on the stage (I managed to take it down the first time) and I'd completely forgotten that this p.o.s. mid-boss can heal himself. I never had access to X2 or X3 until the collection on PS2, so I'm no where near as familiar with them as I am with the rest of the X franchise. I guess I'll go and see if my powered up Ultimate Armor X can Nova Strike him into submission within the 300 seconds needed.

Edit: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! That is a monster of a DPS check. Sure, I'm still using the basic Mega Buster, and the only other buster I've upgraded is the Arrow Buster, but I've seen Nova Strike crit of 1M+ damage, and I've done upgrades since then. It took well over a minute of just laying on as much damage as possible before the blasted parasite appeared, though it only got one attack of its own before Ultimate Armor X had eliminated it, but that was INSANE!

I think it isn't just about how fast you do damage, but that you have to trigger a specific number of times it 'restores' itself. It did a LOT of these before I got the parasite to appear, frequently doing that one action back to back three or four times in a row. In fact, the only time it attacked in Old Robot form was when the Arrow Buster was in recharge mode, otherwise all it was doing was hopping into position and restoring itself.

Just got to it and boy is this a fun boss. Just dealing 0 damage all the time and you are like "So what do I do now?" After some 5 minutes I figured I'd try dying and see if this was a stupid cut-scene boss where I was supposed to lose, but no, it wasn't.

I guess I might try to upgrade some extra weapons and see if those do more damage. Right now I'm level 115 with most things upgraded to at least 110 so I thought I'd be good. (Playing the Super Hunter X character since I benefit greatly from never taking damage).

Sadly, it only ever shows 0 Damage, no matter how powerful your weapons are. This doesn't mean you aren't affecting it, but you have to destroy the Junk Robot 'shell' to reveal the Pararoid, which is the true boss and do some real damage to it. Of course, after a few seconds it restores the Junk Robot and hides inside it again. It won't get repaired from this, but it forces you to break the Junk Robot to do damage to it again.

If you read the comment above mine it'll give you an idea how much trouble I had. I'm not sure what level I was, but the weapons I was using were all at my player level, and I don't think my level was that much higher than yours.
