S class X is a great alternative too because both his skills do great damage, and his shield can stay up for a long while. You just have to settle for busters instead, to benefit from his buster passive buffs.
This boss has a first phase where it doesn't register damage, but he's actually receiving it. Or at least, the outer part of it is getting damaged. Just keep pressure and eventually you will be able to damage the boss proper. Both phases of the boss can count as sort of DPS checks, which is why it's important to never let up the damage.
Edit: Typo
Edit: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! That is a monster of a DPS check. Sure, I'm still using the basic Mega Buster, and the only other buster I've upgraded is the Arrow Buster, but I've seen Nova Strike crit of 1M+ damage, and I've done upgrades since then. It took well over a minute of just laying on as much damage as possible before the blasted parasite appeared, though it only got one attack of its own before Ultimate Armor X had eliminated it, but that was INSANE!
I think it isn't just about how fast you do damage, but that you have to trigger a specific number of times it 'restores' itself. It did a LOT of these before I got the parasite to appear, frequently doing that one action back to back three or four times in a row. In fact, the only time it attacked in Old Robot form was when the Arrow Buster was in recharge mode, otherwise all it was doing was hopping into position and restoring itself.
I guess I might try to upgrade some extra weapons and see if those do more damage. Right now I'm level 115 with most things upgraded to at least 110 so I thought I'd be good. (Playing the Super Hunter X character since I benefit greatly from never taking damage).
Sadly, it only ever shows 0 Damage, no matter how powerful your weapons are. This doesn't mean you aren't affecting it, but you have to destroy the Junk Robot 'shell' to reveal the Pararoid, which is the true boss and do some real damage to it. Of course, after a few seconds it restores the Junk Robot and hides inside it again. It won't get repaired from this, but it forces you to break the Junk Robot to do damage to it again.
If you read the comment above mine it'll give you an idea how much trouble I had. I'm not sure what level I was, but the weapons I was using were all at my player level, and I don't think my level was that much higher than yours.
