If you're more of a fan of later series such as X, Zero, and ZX and don't really mind the gameplay structure being very different and having more RPG-like elements to it, or even if you just really like crossovers of any kind, X DiVE Offline can provide a lot of enjoyment value for hours on end and features many fan favorites as playable characters such as Mega Man, Protoman, Bass, Roll, X, Zero, Z series Zero, Ciel, Aile, Mega Man Volnutt, Roll Caskett, Tron Bonne, Mega Man.exe, Protoman.exe, Bass.exe, and Geo Stelar, among many others. You can think of this game as something of a celebration of the series history, and is also the game with the bigger modding community.
Overall, just pick whichever of the two suits your personal tastes better. There's no wrong answer, they're both good games.
Like said above, X Dive is a mobile game. So its watered down and a shallow version of what actual Megaman X design usually is. Its quantity over quality.
Also, there's no quantity over quality here. The quantity is certainly there, but there's quality to that quantity. That is to say, it's not a tradeoff. The game isn't of poor quality as a result of its quantity. The fact that it's sitting at nearly 90% positive reviews alone should be enough evidence of this, but as someone who's poured nearly 70 hours into the game since release I can also attest to the fact that the quality is good.
Unless you like to play Mega Man spin off that does not follow fully to original game play mega man game. Then play Mega Man X Dive.
And here other game that don't follow traditional mega man game that don't follow on original game play. Mega Man Soccer/Mega Man Battles Network series/Mega Man Command mission.
X6 with the tweaks patch fixes about 90% of that game's problems and raises it to pretty dang good. Hell it's more interesting than X4 if you can get the rough edges sanded off.
Sadly it doesn't delete Blaze Heatnix's stage or High Max from the game but you can tweak it yourself to reduce Max to 32 hp and skip him.
Anyway,
I've said X3 and X6 are good games only to those that have played enough of it to be familiar with them. Granted this is a hit against them, but it's not as bad as what word out on the street makes them sound like they are.
Disregarding IHX for a sec, I think X1 is overrated. It was a great game by 90's standards, but even by the time X8 came out, I'd say the simplicity of X1 does it less favours. I also view X4 in a similar fashion. Yet X1 and X4 seems to be the 2 best ones if you listen to the internet. X8 (and Command Mission) were my favourites.
Also I liked the elevator. X1 has one too. Actually, I think most of them have some kind of elevator mechanic, though it's usually not a whole level, and might be some variation like the ice stuff in Blizzard Wolfang's stage
