X DiVE Offline shows how much better a game is without gacha mechanics
I'm so happy on how this turned out.
This is how it should've always been.
Microtransactions in videogames can be tolerable sometimes but the way the gacha market is nowadays only shows that greed has eaten the joy of playing a videogame.

I can't stress enough how it feels like a completely different game now.
I'll gladly replay this from the start because it's almost a completely new experience.
No more daily quest bullcrap, i can play at my pace.
No more gacha, no more reroll for better armor stats, no more DNA reroll, no more grind for materials to unlock stuff.

The game is now great.

I'm enjoying it quite thoroughly as well. Being able to progress at a reasonable pace and unlock the characters I care about rather easily is rather cathartic after being subjected to the horrible free to play version for so long. I refused to spend any money in the Online version, and now I feel like that choice is paying off big time here.

Almost every mobile scam game out there would be better if it was forced to be an honest game. Too bad there are no laws making it so so all we can do is deliberately boycott and not support them until they die and going 'honest' like this is the last resort.

In addition to all the above, it also isn't having to constantly "phone home to the mothership" so to speak, so there's none of the lag and latency issues that the original had.

I'll be honest, I play a lot of gachas, whaling a bit too. And I think gacha should be banned. Anyone who plays gacha and doesn't feel it should also be banned has no soul or self-respect. It is an awful anomaly of gaming that is going to just keep having terrible incentives and impact on the field and the only reason it is tolerable now is the masses are incredibly fickle about who they give millions in gamblebux to.

I am actually amazed this came about. I'm happy for Megaman fans - hopefully DBZ fans get something like this with Dokkan, someday.

This just makes you wish more mobile games would do this at their eos date.

Could this game be the reason why some gachas in the future decided to follow the offline route? That would be nice, it most likely suck to have a gacha you like get to eos date.

The absence of time-gating mechanics such as energy, research, and dailies pleases me to no end.

The lack of skip dives vexes me slightly, but I absolutely understand why they're gone.

The zenny cost of Reconstruction Programs is a bit high, but I imagine it will be chump change once I get to the point where I might actually need them, if ever.

The changes made to the menu UI are brilliant.

Not being able to scale down the action icons on the screen during play is frustrating, but there's a transparency setting at least.

So far, so good. I'm having fun at a fixed price, and that is priceless.

honestly i hope to see this for honkai impact some day. it has great story and gameplay, but it's boggedf down by gacha mechanics like stanima and of course the gacha.
like i want to go back and replay story events, but it feels like it would be a waste of the stanima cost.

The gacha model is fine for adding in characters and constant updates, but when its nearing the end it absolutely needs to be converted into an offline model. playing this just feels sooooo fun. and the speed up of not having to confirm everything with a server is a great plus.

okay being honest, i did read.
it's just that i REALLY REEEALLY hate gacha system and how a lot of people normalize it lol

The only gacha i ever played is this one because it's megaman.

I think it's less gacha itself that's the problem and more the monetization and implementation of it. Gacha mechanics can actually be really fun, but when it starts encouraging you to spend large amounts of real money and/or makes obtaining things you want/need incredibly unlikely it becomes a problem.

Ideally in my eyes, if gacha elements are included within games there should be no monetization tied to them (let's be honest, that's basically just actual gambling) and they should be implemented in a way that feels fair to the player. For example, a gacha system for obtaining loot drops in a game like Borderlands would actually fit really well, just don't start charging money for it.

a game with gacha like that is holocure, where you just pay ingame coins to get characters and dupes power them up is super fun.

while I am tolerant of Gacha games, I do draw the line at paid gacha in paid games. it should ether be free to play or not have gacha if its paid to play, not both at the same time.
