Game won't open, verify game cache gives constant "1 files failed to validate"

Hi all,

can't seem to fire this up, it just exits, with no error. FIrst time I opened it, I could put in my SOE Station credentials, and I selected "Remember me", then on clicking Play it simply exited and disappeared. Since then, when I launch the game the station screen appears and then disappears again (though as it's probably logging me in automatically I guess it's doing the same thing.

If I verify game cache it tells me one file is redownloaded every time, but I've read that's normal behaviour for Steam. I've also completely wiped the files and downloaded again.

Played the beta standalone, and worked fine, but downloaded the full thing on Steam and it's just not having it. Anyone seen same behaviour, have any idea how to get around it?

I have the same issue except my files validate out just fine.

I start the launcher.
Hit play.
See the splash banner for Planetside 2
CRASH, windows has reported an error and is trying to fix it blah blah

As a side note: Running Windows 8

I tried to validate my game files, but it says "1 game file failed to validate and will be redownloaded again." i did this many times and it still keeps saying that when i try to validate when i tried to play, the planetside 2 screen says, "LaunchPad was unable to connect. Please check the network connection or try again later. If the problem persists, please visit http://www.soe.com/help for assistance. (1-0)"

SO I CANT PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are using the steam validate function, don't.
Only use the inbuild validation option on the launcher, you can find it if you click on the wrench icon in the lower left corner of the launcher screen.
