Installing = downloading
So I downloaded the game from steam (when my internet data usage is free). Run it the next day, and it says it's installing, mean while IT IS NOT, IT'S DOWNLOADING a HUGE patch. What's up with this crap. It's just using huge amounts of my cap without telling/asking me?? I've never seen a launcher done so badly. Didn't have a pause/stop button. Honestly made it look like it was just installing/configuring things. Hugely disapointed.

o_O steam is just a downloader for the game, there were a lot of updates after the steam version was released, expect updates coming from the launcher since it's not steam related and yes, it shows like "installling" but it's just updaing files....

haha amost every game on the computer does this.. you download the game files, then install/download the patches.. you must not play very many games of this type.

Well all the valve games at least are patched through steam. Though yeah I guess mmorpg always have a loader, or all blizzard games now... BUT they ALL explicitly tell you they're downloading when they are. Not this 'installing' BS. It really should be fixed.

lol cshaun, if it says Installing it's downloading, dont make drama about it, the bar says how much it is downloading, if you dont like it, dont come here and cry about it, make a support ticket or open a thread at the official forums....

Started it up when my data/usage no longer free. Not a big issue for most. But even if I had no cap, I'd still want to know what it's doing. Blacknight - my whole point is I don't think it's obvoius that it's downloading. No pause, stop etc. I opened windows resource manager to have a look.

I think the real issue here is that cshaun's ISP is limiting his downloads. Only acceptable in North Korea if you ask me.

GreenBean, there are plenty of places around the world that have a limited 'cap'. You either pay for a set unlimited 'pipe' / bandwidth, or a faster 'fatter pipe' but put a limit on it. There are options here to have unlimited. I prefer the speed. Will be changing plans soon to 30Mb fibre, which a much bigger cap of 150Gb (again could get unlimited) but as with all things you get what you pay for. I rather have a cap and fast service, than inferior unlimited plan. Anyway all of that is besides the point. You could be using 3G or some other more expensive plan with costly or limited data. You should always be aware of what's going on. That's the problem.

(Side issue, I backed up the game to put onto second computer and it corrupted the install and had to redowload!! Common issue apparently. Gah!)

Two hours of my life wasted and only 500MB out of 4,500MB "installed" if it downloads from steam send all the updates to steam so i dont have to download it more than once!!! Also I have to agree with cshaun that the pause/stop should be included in anything that is downloading. The worst part is that its takeing forever for something smaller than other games of this type (namly Star Wars: the Old Republic).

not to bring an old forum up from the dead, but I agree they should update their installer to have a pause or stop button, change the wording from installing to downloading, (because its not installing it is downloading, and those actions are two different things) and update the steam install file! this issue has gotten out of hand to the point that it was 10.8gb's to install from steam and 9.1 gb's of updates.

my download total right now is 9,158 MB, how is my download that huge?
Nordak Balrem Feb 10, 2015 @ 11:59am
I had a limit while abroad. Every country other than South Korea, Thailand, and the United States seems to have ISP's that meter landlines.

I think the people who don't see this as a problem must not have played very many games themselves. Every MMO launcher since MMO launchers first existed explicitly say when they're downloading something.

This launcher seems to go out of its way to hide the fact it's downloading. It doesn't show download rate, and because the patch amount is almost exactly the same as the Steam download you sit there trying to figure out why it takes an hour to 'install' a game to an SSD.

Err. The Steam version of PS2 is wrong. If you download from Steam it will download (10gig) then when you start up the PS2 Launcher it will also download (10gig) because the version is wrong. The forums clearly tell you not to validate your steam files as you will have to redownload the game twice.

For instance i first downloaded in steam it did the steam download then the launcher "installing" which is another download.

Second time I installed directly from the website and only had to download once.

Sounds like a developer laziness problem
