PlanetSide 2 gives me a virus?!?!?
Today at 20:00 the 11th december i downloaded planetside 2 and one fourth of the download my antivirus program started to alert me for a virus from the program Planetside 2.exe and located at my steam download folders. The antivirus deleted the virus and i restarted the computer. After a retry of downloading the game again it worked fine. Still i dont know if the antivirus deleted something important. The antivirus program is called Telia säker surf (swedish) and it is almost one of the best ones you can get here in sweden. Please answer me if i should be worried or not for another virus or if you got this problem too.
Thanks

Just use Avast! I've never had a false positive and it will ask you to run programs in a sandbox if you are worried. They have it in your language and it is one of the better free antivirus programs. I've had exchange students come over with Telia and their computers are still full of viri.

I'm pretty sure the executable is safe, maybe the antivirus is outdated...IDK

Like I said Avast! is completly free and really works. Telia is the worst anitvirus you can use. You probably got the false positive on Planetside 2.exe becasue you have a virius from somwhere else already on your system. Telia will block some worms but it is terrible with trojans and others.

The last thing SOE wants to do is give a virus to someone they want to make money off of.

Exacly DandaNgsan that is why I think his current antivirus let somthing through that now it is trying to attache itself to other executables.

Don't listen to the AV companies advertising - read reviews and take peoples advice. Avast! Is good.

Same here with Avira AntiVirus.
During installation it alerts me about a trojan "TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen2"

According to Avira this is a false positive...

This is a false positive detection, which will be fixed with one of the next VDF updates from Avira.

Please note that this is a generic false positive.
This means, that this false positive appears on the basis of certain unique characteristics inside the file. Therefore it is possible that similar files will also be reported with this detection.

This false positive will finally be fixed with the next engine update.

Dont worry it's not a virus if you downloaded it from sony or steam. (lol)

AVG sees nothing wrong with Planetside 2, so it's just your anti-virus having a false positive reaction that should eventually be corrected by its publisher.

Most anti-virus programs have heuristic algorithms that watch for new viruses, but unfortunately they can sometimes make mistakes (false positives).
