Why not change flail to actually work as true artillery?
I don`t like how the flail in its current state is a mark and kill system (despite how much I personally enjoy using it). It would be more interesting if the flail turned to wide area suppresion like true artillery, max 50dmg per shell with slow fire rate(say 1 shell every 20 seconds) but wide area it can land in for about 2 mins at a time. Artillery IRL is more about making the enemy think they are under too much heavy fire to keep pushing forward or to even leave their post, its not as lethal as most would think.

I can see tank zergers getting upset in forums even if nobody was significantly damaged cause it would cause them to feel on edge. I think it would be more interesting than what we got right now.

Because a slow barrage of low damage shell can be fully counteracted by a medic pressing F
Same with low damage to vehicles, 1 or 2 repair Sunderers will handily outrepair the scratchdamage.

2k hour tanker here, wouldn't make me flinch. I would need to be directly hit 3 times in a matter of a few minutes to feel pressured. Less experienced players maybe but I don't think most people build their weapon strategies around canon fodder anyways

Note: I said 50dmg and slow fire rate since people would make the "AcTuAlLy" argument regarding multiple flails. And the shells would have area blast not just direct hits.

50 dmg. +50 more dmg for direct hits. I thought AOE would go without saying.

The AOE does yes, the dmg of said AOE no.

If hit by the shell you take a 100 dmg depend on the indirect dmg type.
And depending on the types they will not deal 100 or even 50.

Artillery also dont only serve to supress, it also serves to neutralize the enemy, or to cause casualties, damage, and destruction. It got 2 roles not just 1.

I can see it if it was 5 shells at a time since its over a large area, maybe slightly spaced apart in timing so it feels like a lot more fire than it really is. Get two flails going set maybe 10 seconds apart and that would be some real suppressive fire. Even if its just 50 indirect 100 direct, that many explosions going constantly you'd still feel some pressure. It would work very well to soften up a group for a frontal assault as the damage would interfere with shield regen, might pick off anyone low running for heals, and could easily disable enemy motion detectors and ammo bricks.

5 seconds aiming, laser-pointer, dust, long fire time, red areas, they now killed the flail, it is senseless.

Would make you flinch if the supression effect OP is mentioning, is getting a supression effect similar to concussion grenade..
