Also console players always do worse than PC players
As Mexiguy said, PS4 and PC players won't be playing together. There will be PS4 exclusive servers.
I think they will do it in equal measure, on a global scale.
I suspect at least one reason SOE is not combining PC/Console players is because it will be unfair and too much whinning will ensue.
Considering they will be playing only against other console players there will not be any advantage or disadvantage in using a controller.
The reason they do not combine it, is because, according to them, the restrictions they have to adhere to when patching the PS4 version, as well as having to downscale the number of people per continent for the PS4 version and other technical limitations that make the PS4 version 'inferior' to the PC version on a technical level...
I don't think there is so much difference between an average console player and an average PC player when it comes to planetside. Both are equally cannon fodder.
Winning firefights in Planetside depends mostly on ambushing and surprising your enemy at which point it doesn't really matter what your input method is. Twitch skills don't play to much of a role in this game, unless you are talking about the 'above average' level of gamer you meet in Planetside.
recoil proves to be too hard for the console babies
^ confirmed NC6 Gauss SAW gonna be removed from ps4 version of a game
Not sure about having a PC or not, but the question is rather if they are having one that can handle videogames, especially as taxing as Planetside 2.
And liking it or not, there are more Consoles gamers out there than there are PC gamer.
Consoles exist because they're cheaper and easier to use than a good gaming PC, and they have a singular design so developers don't have to spend as much time and money optimising across the thousands of different CPUs, GPUs, driver sets, etc.
Just look at the forums here, 90% of the "can I run it?" posts and "this game sux I can't play it" posts are from people with horrible laptops or off the shelf budget computers thinking they can game on them.
Consoles are and will forever be inferior simply due to raw horsepower and input options (m+kb, proper flight yokes, high end steering wheels, etc that generally aren't available to consoles) available to PCs. The Xbone and PS4 were inferior to 2 year old PCs the day they were released.
For the mass market consoles make more sense, because even people that build (or most likely buy) high end PCs, there are a surprisingly high number that don't know how to OPTIMISE them for best performance, which is why you also see alot of people with high end systems having issues playing PS2 and many other games that demand more power. In other cases people may have a powerful system, but don't check forums beforehand so they don't realise their completely AMD setup is going to have much worse performance than a lower spec intel/nvidia setup for PS2.
Consoles require no knowledge of hardware or compatability. You simply plug and play, so the masses use that because its simple.
I have both, and the reason why is: 1. playing on a console proves to be the more comfortable way. - fast starting up, -freedom of movement( i can walk anywhere in my room or house while still playing or talking via headset). -Guaranteed working games. - and the most important thing: Exclusives.
And btw you can plug in a mouse and keyboard with a specially designed usb stick, which can transform all devices such as wii motes xboxcontrollers dual shock 3 controllers and mouse and keyboard into the ps4.
I play pc for the rather demanding and well more hardcore games like arma, counter strike, and all strategy games. But if I had a choice between console version and pc I would take the console version first. Hell I even play pc games with a controller if possible. Actually you can use the ps4 controller wireless on pc too :).
So I´´m waiting for this release and they said I can use my old chars from pc that will be awesome. Cause I kinda spent lots of time and a bit of money on them already.
Prices, simple as.
Bad devs also need standardized platforms to develop for.
Why specify intel/Nvidia?
The intel bit I get, this game doesn't work on AMD processors, but Nvidia? As far as I know the Nvidia graphics cards don't do any better than similar spec'd AMD in this game.
