HELP! - Verifying Game Cache
First of all let me just say yes, I am aware (now) that verifying the game cache for Planetside 2 via Steam was a stupid move. Now lets all move on from this and get to the crux of the matter.

I verified the cache as the game kept crashing every time I would try to log into one of my characters. It said there were all the files missing (pretty much) and started to 'update' itself. At this point I went 'oh f*ck' cause now I cant play Planetside 2 AT ALL.

Is there anyway to get Steam to find and recognise the game anymore? I don't want to have to download EVERYTHING again and then update again.

Also, I cant find the original game files... Its like Steam tried to verify, didn't like what it saw and deleted 10+gb of Planetside 2!... The steamapps/common file is now just 400MB. Is the main planetside file elsewhere?

You need to redownloas all the patches from the launcher.

Click on the tool icon on the launcher ad select "validate game assets"

I cant even open the launcher anymore. If I manually try to it immediately sets steam into downloading the game files that are 'missing'.

Go to the PS2 folder and open LaunchPad.exe directly

Oh sorry, I should have mentioned. When I do that now it just brings up a black box (the size of the launch pad) with "http://www.soe.com/help" in blue letter in the middle of it...

I really think when i verified through steam that steam erased the entire game. All of the game files ARE under the steam apps directory yes?

Yes.

The problem with validating with steam is that steam goes and checks the games current files against the files it has in store. So right now steam has the gamefiles from 2 years ago. When you validate them it thinks all the files are wrong and redownloads the entire game from launch.

The only fix for doing this is to sit through it and redownload the entire game. Always validate from the games laucher if it has one. That way it will find the corrupted files and repair them without running the risk of steam having an out of date database.
