PlanetSide 2

Should PS2 get a remaster/modern upgrade for massive profit?
Listen, this game I wanted to play a lot when I was younger. Now that I am older, I feel like I lost the chance to really play this out. If there was to be a remaster, I would be very inclined to buy it, play it, and ultimately main-game it. With rumors of the game developement team shutting down the service, it feels like they milked it for what it was worth. There is nothing more to gain from a game as old as PS2. The fact there are still players sinking money into it is actually kinda impressive. However it would be more impressive if there was a sequel, remaster, or modern upgrade. Clearly the game did well. Why not?

If the game did well it wouldn't be on it's 3rd dev studio and however many publishers.

The IP needs to be sold to a real studio. And they need to build a new game with it.

I'm not entirely sure PS2 has ever been "profitable" in any sense other than an IP that has been sold and resold over and over... It seems like as soon as the next buyer recoups the costs of buying the IP, they sell it, and that is what has created any actual profit or success.
It should get taken out back and treated like ol yeller

a "remaster"? NO!
what they need, is graphics overhaul and fixing of annoying bugs that have existed since start, like the UI not scaling with resolution change, this is one of the dumbest things .. i don't understand why devs use fixed size for interface, it should ALWAYS be % of screen, not fixed pixels. impossible playing in 4k, even in 1440p icons on minimap are so tiny that it's hard to notice anything and i have 28'' monitor, still super tiny.

then add some new vehicles and at least 1 new map.

fix oshur, it's so sad map. i like the concept, i like that every map is suppose to be unique, but it's badly executed.
they need to add main battle ships, which would be like water version of main battle tank, then also add submarines. one could be sunderer, but water version that moves a lot faster in water and you can go up/down in water.
most of all, decrease all the terrain heights, make it possible for water-based vehicles to actually be useful and capture points and bases, add couple bases that exist inside cave or on island in a way that it's exposed to water vehicles, like add rivers and such.
basically make it viable for water-based vehicles, while reducing the usefulness of ground-based vehicles. i have never put any certs into boats, cuz they're so USELESS .. you can't do anything with them, you can't even use them as troop carriers, cuz all the cap points are miles away from beaches. there's that tower, but it's high up .. so you can't do anything with water vehicle either.

on esamir, add snow storms and proper snow effects, make ice and snow SLIPPERY and add snow tyres for vehicles that use wheels.
snow storms should be severe enough to make it hard for small aircrafts to fly straight, it would swing them around and stuff.
also add breakable ice like what you can see in snowrunner, so you can literally get stuck. breakable ice should be slightly different color, so you can see where is what, but barely barely.

on indar, add sandstorms that are similar to snowstorms, they'd block your vision and make smaller aircrafts spin out of control, but obviously those storms wouldn't be 24/7, just every now and then.

in general, add more weather effects, like rain and lightning.

and ofcourse add at least 1 new class aswell.

mechs would also be cool, something that is mix between tank, harasser and max. or why not add 2 types of mechs? smaller ones and bigger ones? bigger ones could also have gunner seats.

basically just do graphics overhaul, some bug fixes and add some new content and i'm sure it would attract lot of attention, there's no need to make "remaster", this game is perfectly good as it is, just needs some new life.
personally i'd like if 4th faction would be stand-alone aswell, but it would require significant map changes aswell, which might be a lot of work.

that said, look up "battleside". it's inspired on planetside
before any of that the rampant cheating should be dealt with

PLANETSIDE 1 SHOULD GET THE REMASTER. Its a better metagame
Came here found a thread. If nothing is sacred. Then I feel like Netmarble accidentally made a korean-made Planetside MMORPG. Butchering/massacring the RF Online intellectual property with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WC9ibfLE-Y Where the three races as three factions were replaced to be a single race <Human> split into three factions.

Accretian Empire = Vanu Sovereignty ~~> "Choose Technology"
Bellatean Federation = New Conglomerate ~~> "Choose Freedom"
Holy Corite Alliance = Terran Republic ~~> "Choose God"

However, Lore-wise it is closer to Tabula Rasa. With Earth being invaded by an alien race. Then, rest of the humans fleeing to Nova via a wormhole.

The cheating in this game is the same as any other PVP game. The billion dollar hack site market have taken over the entire industry. (Thanks no skill streamers!)

But yeah most games that have a major face-lift will bring players back for a short time but they need to add some meaningful content and not stupid **** like fishing.

One of my favorite online games is RF Online. My primary race is consistently the Bellato Federation, and my main class is MAU (Massive Armor Unit). I missed those days when a whole race attacked another rival race's base, leading to a huge PVP battle. It's unfortunate it didn't make it to Steam, and if it does, there will be 24/7 PVP all over the map

I miss when every MMO was a new concept. We don't get the variation in MMOs these days.

Given the Astrapto Capital/Bay Tree Tower Ltd. situation. It will hopefully be AFTER the revitalization of the video game genre, post-CN dominance.

1. Black Myth Wukong (Triple-A Singleplayer)
2. Ne Zha 2 (Triple-A Animation)
With the third target.
3. MMOs

2019 = Project X/MiHoYo "Project X is a new ray-traced action shooter from popular anime game developer Mihoyo, coming in mid-2021. The game features next-gen anime-style rendering and advanced interactive physics on a spherical open-world planet."
Where the guy directing the game, went to work with Tencent.
2020 = Project SH/MiHoYo which is basically an aggressively scaled-down X. “brand-new AAA open-world action-adventure game featuring shooting-based gameplay within a living, breathing paranormal world.” => "anime-style, GTA-like action game built with Unreal Engine 5."
Where the guy directing this game, went on to found Anuttacon,
2022 = Project R/MiHoYo which removes the Shooter gameplay and makes it a MMORPG. Which the new gameplay system is basically this: Zenless Zone Zero - Trigger - Sniper but with the Honkai IP (Gun Girl Z/Honkai Impact 3rd/Genshin Impact/Honkai Star Rail taking place in Honkai Impact 4th - Galaxia setting)

Talking about the above is important because of the player conversion rate is expected to be near-100%. Mihoyo revealed in one of their investor meetings in 2024. That they had 75 million players playing both Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact concurrently in a single month.

Where World of Warcraft's 12 million subscribers never being beat by a MMO. So, if Mihoyo does release their MMORPG w/o it being cancelled. Where it actually converts and gets 75 million monthly active players. The MMO genre should effectively be revived.

As they will have slain World of Warcraft and proved MMOs can compete with Fortnite, League of Legends, Roblox, etc. All of these have surpassed >20 million monthly active users. Where Fortnite with every OG event and the Marvel event has hit >100 million monthly active users.

Which given what is going on, more likely that it will necessarily be a reboot/sequel to Planetside 1/2. Where Planetside IP follows Star Citizen, Ashes of Creation, Pax Dei; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xuEw9j_vNw Skip to Minutes: 1, Seconds: 35 for the server stitching stuff. Where I forget the name of the Crypto-metaverse MMO. But, they got that tech to 80,000 players in a single instance.

This is the thing:
The network effect is a phenomenon that occurs when a product or service gains value as more people use it.

PS1 = ~500 users across 3 factions (2003)
PS2 = ~2000 users across 3 factions (2012)
+10 years again, means Planetside 3 would have the same player count as Pax Dei rounded down to 8000, (500*4=2000*4=8000)
