What's wrong with servers? 5000 ping

Suddenly, ping started to go up to 5000 which is insane. It was never that bad. Started previous week. But the rest of my internet works fine as usual. Am I the only one?

Update: went to low pop area and issue went away. This is definitely issue with the PS2 servers. Something horrible happened to them. Any ideas?

I like everything about this game and played a lot but now this is unplayable. This game is all about high pop and I literally cannot do anything.

Its happened to me too, always in high pop areas. And way worse than 5000ms.

Same problem here. Started about two hours ago when I relogged to fix sound. On any given Saturday, I have maybe five or eight friends log on or off the server. Today it's been non-stop. Something is seriously wrong with the server.

Noticed another variable. There was no issue in high pop areas when only one continent was available. Now when there's two, ping starts to go bad when pop is around 24-48 on both sides (I would guess around 70 players total in one region).

I have the same issue, it only happens in high pop areas like you said. Very annoying. Can't remember if two continents were open at the time, I'll have to pay more attention for next time.
