If so, open your control panel by typing in "Control Panel" into your start menu and follow these steps!

1. Select Internet Options
2. Select Connections
3. Click LAN Settings
4. Uncheck "Use a Proxy Server for Your LAN"

This solution worked for me: Instead of unchecking that box i went to the same place but at Proxyserver i clicked advanced then checked the use the same proxy server for all, and it works.

My proxy box wasnt checked in the first place, also i cant find the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc any one know how to help?

This is still a massive help years later, thanks for the advice, I couldn't find any other help anywhere
