One of the latest updates brought the requirements up to 64bit OS.
You can't play PS2 on on a 32bit OS anymore.
so 64bit can play all games
32bit can play a bit weaker games
and as far as i know you might be running linux
That is quite frankly a lie. I've played the 32bit version and there is no chance in hell that you ran it on high settings with a 32 bit version without it crashing within minutes. 32bit does not have enough RAM to run this game. It will run out of Memory in the first 45 minutes, the higher your settings were, the sooner a Ram spoke would nuke the game and CTD you.
So stop running around and telling stories about how you seem to somehow been able to circumvent a technical limitation.
For 3 years the Devs tried to make it playable on the 32bit version, after 2 years it became clear that they wouldn't be able to make it playable due to technical limitations. And while it ran better towards the end, because of the overall resource management improvements of the game, that never got rid of the technical limitation that is imposed by a 32bit system.
Of course you can now claim that you ran the 32 bit program on your 64bit system, but in that case why are you moaning about needing the 64bit version now, because obviously you already have a 64bit system and can use the 64bit version without issues.
Because it its damn well programmed and doesn't spike the memory use at the start of the program. Which is why you could start the game, but as soon as you spawned in you'd crash to CTD within the first 5-40 minutes, at which time the Game starts to be more demanding.
This game needs a minimum of 3,5 GB ram to run stable. With a 32bit system needing about 700mb Ram for its own. On a system that can manage (between Graphic RAM and PC Ram) 3,7ram. There was NEVER enough Ram to go around.
Being able to start up has nothing to do with the fact that you needed the lowest settings to even play for 30 minutes, and had to stay away from big fights.
You do realize that is usually not something people are out of their own choice, right? Nobody ever gets up in the morning and decides "yeah, imma gonna be poor!"
If it would be a choice, everyone would be rich.
