There's a lot of grenade launchers (I won't list them all) that are effective against both infantry and vehicles. But they have problems hitting C4 fairies (flying light assaults), and accuracy is difficult against anything but close range targets. The grenades deal splash damage which can be devastating against packed groups of enemies (although these opportunities are rare).
There's the M12 Kobalt which has a huge magazine size and specializes in killing infantry. It can also be used against light vehicles and aircraft. Accuracy is good out to medium range. It deals zero damage to heavy vehicles (tanks, sunderers) and aircraft (galaxies, liberators).
The default gun is the M20 Basilisk. It's accurate, but damage dropoff is severe over range, so consider it a close range gun. It deals good damage to everything, but in terms of time-to-kill the Kobalt is better at killing infantry, and the grenade launchers are better at killing vehicles.
Personally I use dual Basilisks. Yes, they are a jack of all trades, master of none, but I like the versatility the Basilisks offer.
Thank you, that you took your time to explain that to me. I really appreciate that ;)
The M20 Basilisk is the most effective weapon against infantry and ground vehicles alike. Rocking both of them allows a Sunderer to take out a MBT, provided the Sunderer has 2 gunners that actually shoot at the MBT.
If you are not rocking the M20 you will need to decide what you want your Sunderer to be good for. If you want them to be good at defending against Infantry then a Bulldog and a M12 Kobalt combination will be best. Optionally you can rock a G30 Walker or a G40 Ranger instead of either Bulldog or Kobalt, if you want to give your sunderer some Anti Air capabilities.
For Anti Vehicle Armament you basically only have the option of the M20. The Fury and the Bulldog both can harm Tanks, but you have to be quite close to them to do so, which is rare. Of course if your gunner can land that Bulldog shot on a Harasser, that thing is probably going to run home to mommy, two hits puts it firmly into the red. 4 hits take out a Lightning.. but as i said...landing those hits is challenging. So the M20 is your best bet.
As for what equipment.. if you want it to take on stuff... you want either a deployment shield, a blockade armor or a proximity repair system. The later will only work if you have a battle caravan with another sunderer, also fitting the repair system. You will repair each other.
If you just want a spawn Sunderer, then Deployment shield or Mineguard is your only real option. The max level of the Stealth upgrade gives a cloak to the surrounding area, but that is only useful if you can somehow obfuscate where the stream of players is coming (meaning in low pop situations).
Its not really much of a secret when you see a conga-line materialize out of thin air.
Fire Suppression and your choice of chassis. I personally use Combat, but quite a few prefer Racer.
Ohh ok. So I´ll guess the best think I can do is changing my loadout depending on the amount of vehicles, teammates, and the current location. Thanks for your helpfulness! :3
Racer chassis, max blockade armor, dual fury, fire suppression. The one and only main battle tank/ bus.
Excellent at cpunching through chokepoints clustered with infantry, since sunderer are tougher than mbts especially reverse fighting at close range. With a bit of skill and teamwork you could rekt mbts at close range.
Dual basilisk, isnt really any good except if running a sundy zerg with nano repair like the one troll does on sunday afternoon. 30-50 basilisk sundy rekting everything along its path.
Bulldog is so 2012 Ishan, the best weapon for the battle sundy these days is the Fury, hands down: splash damage infantry, damage armor, higher RoF and mag pool (good if you are having problems in adjusting your aim due the the nature of the ballistic projectile).
I havent seen a bulldog on a sundy in a while...
To the OP question:
Battlesundy setup is usually:
- max blockade armor
- max fire suppression system
Full AI:
- Dual Kobalt
AI and AV:
- Dual Fury
AA
- Dual Walker
And OFC, 3 engineers, one driving, and 2 manning the guns.
I prefer to Bulldog to the Fury for a variety of reason, least of which is its higher arc, allowing you to lob them over obstacles.
Its also provide extra dps when charging headon against mbt by jumping out and firing dumbfire while the fury reloads
