PlanetSide 2

Game is causing constant System Crashes
as the Title says, the Game is causing constant System crashes.

My System:
- i9 13900KS (HT disabled, underlocked my about 200Mhz)
- 64GB DDR5 RAM (XMP2 enabled, also tried default Settings)
- RTX 4090 (Stock)
- Game runs on Samsung 990 Pro M.2 SSD
- Game Settings:
- 3840x2160@144hz
- FoV 110°
- Most Settings on Low or Medium, Shadows disabled. Upscaling disabled.

It differs very much on when the Game is crashing so i can't really put my finger on anything. Even in the Main Menu.

The Crash it self: My Screen goes Dark. Thats it. Need to reset/restart my Computer to get it to work again. No Crashdump from WIndows, just a Entry in the System Log "Kernel Power" with default Values in Details (nothing usable).
( Also configured Settings to create full Memory Dump, but nothing created )

Seems to me like the Graphics Driver did just ♥♥♥♥ itself for some reason, but as everything else runs just fine - i don't think its a System Issue.

Other Applications without Issue:
- Cyberpunk 2077: 130+ FPS on Max Settings at 4k for longer Sessions
- Blender: 7h Animation Render with GPU/CPU with both being at 100% constantly
No Issues at all.

Already reinstalled the Game and Graphics Drivers multible Times (also reverted to a older Driver Version) and tried another Disk. No improvements.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

I had the very same issue. Completely random system crash where my screen would also go dark and I'd hear a bugged, endless firing. Sometimes after 15 minutes of gameplay, sometimes after 5 hours.

I know for a fact that my power unit is too old but what solved the issue for me was tuning down GPU by 100mhz. Now everything works like a charm.
interesting. I got a 1000W Power Supply, which should be enough to power my Hardware - but i'm willing to try it anyways.
I'm having this issue as well, just thought it was because of an older computer or a PSU failure. Now that others are having it I'm more convinced it's a software issue.

Edit: I even took my GPU and PSU apart, cleaned them and put new thermal paste on my GPU.

PS2 is an old game, running it at anything over 1080p @ 60hz is not guaranteed to work or continue to work. If it was working in the past and no longer works, could be OS related (Microsoft loves to break everything) try rollign back recent updates and prevent them from being reinstalled.

Blocking all associated connections for Windows Update via a third party firewall is the best thing a gamer can do to prevent know-it-all Microsoft from breaking ♥♥♥♥. No registry editing or other potentially compromising actions, works with 10 and 11 so long as you follow the procedure and can be easily reverted. Start up with for net disconnected, either by pulling your plug prior and plugging it back in after startup is complete. (Disable the wifi and set connection to manual) Cry safety nonsense all you want against such an act, its the user that ultimately makes poor choices with what they click or connect to that get them compromised. Additionally to prevent any ninja installs, clear out the Software Distribution folder in the Windows folder as it contains all downloaded updates.

Can leave the SLS folder as it contains downloaded security certificates, even then its wise to clear the SLS folder somewhat regularly.
