The problem is that if you go offline and your silo is in a critical defense zone, allies will have to destroy it in order to build in the area and that is not good. In these cases, the silo should be left without an owner and become the property of the next player who interacts with it.
It's just one of the things that makes construction... not fun. My largest gripe right now is that the flail laser change from using a simple dart, makes the screen completely bonkers and now gives me micro-seizures trying to deal with the epic glitched screen jumping around at 5,000 FPS up and down.
After that, is is just that the lack of placement options, the nerf to multiple flails and routers on the same silo, and the terrible way that it takes actually 45-60 minutes to build just the things that you can happen to place. And the bases fall in about 3 minutes to any force because they lack ai-modules to the turrets and the pain spires being completely nerfed as anything else in the game.
And I paid for construction so I feel like I do get an actual opinion on this...
I actually gave money for it to turn out like this? Where it now physically injures me to try to use features in it. Would I pay full price again for the same "package deal" as before? Hell no. And it felt like Wrel crapped all over us by making those changes, and it feels like the current "developers" continue to crap all over us still.
None of the developers have "kept the game thriving".... this game has been in a death spiral ever since SOE went under and the IP was sold off the first time. Lets be real please.
I have tried that, and it doesnt deconstruct. It acts like its going to; the tool connects but it just does the 'repair' effect endlessly without actually deconstructing.
My biggest issue with placement is that walls have way too tight of a tolerance. Blast walls are fine, but the solid walls and other long walls dont have enough leeway to place them on slopes. In fact a lot of stuff just doesnt have the flexibility it needs to be useful off of a flat road. I do like how you can place them overlapping with a lot of objects, but even that is 'off' since some continents use a lot of terrain sculpting and others use models (brushes or whatever we calll them these days) instead.
I agree. 5 minutes offline should be enough. That means you went 15 minutes with no mouse movement and then were offline for 5 more. Seems fair to me. I mean if you put a silo down and then left 2k Cortium in it after setting it to locked, no one could build with it anyway. 5 minutes offline seems fine since there would be a super easy way to work around it if your intentions were nefarious anyway.
And I do believe there are people who log in to enemy factions to hinder building. I find almost empty silos in critical places a lot anyway, and at times Ill go to build and every cortium node I find (in a LARGE area) is mined down to almost nothing left but enough to not mine out and respawn fresh.
This could be solved by making the deposits "refresh" every x time regardless of their state.
look at the terminal on it and press and hold Q. It will bring up a box to 'lock' it. Except its only locked when its below 20k Cortium (i think), so if you want it to stay locked, you cant fill it above that level.
That would work for my situation most of the time; I just want to build my base and then let others place things outside of my core layout. It is a pretty tight layout where theres only one way in and out unless youre a LA and can fly over the walls. Vehicles can drive out that way too - a vehicle gate is the only entrance and exit. I need to finish that before people place other things.
I also want to be able to deconstruct other players items that used my Cortium. Now and then I have a player plop something down right in front of the gate. Its usually an air pad so I started including that just outside of the core with its own spawn point (Spawn Tube) but trolls also plop a wall down there or something else that they want with complete disregard to how the 100 other players using it get their tanks out. Deconstructing someone else's stuff doesnt seem to work as discussed above.
