Error 10060 is caused by a timeout. Its a general windows error. It means you are most likely using a proxy.

This suggests you are either deliberately using a VPN or you are suffering from Malware that VPN's your traffic. Alternatively, something has been messing with your windows settings, such as faulty installations.. or you updating to different versions.. or running multiple windows OS on your systems.

If you are certain its not VPN and malware and have tried it again in say... an hour or two, the internet has several websites, including microsofts own how to troubleshoot the Error 10060 as its a Winsocket problem.

One possible website:

OK, so the guy above me is pretty much correct, and as for his VPN malware theory you want to scan your PC for it by using your anti virus, if you are for some reason using a proxy then it leads me to suspect you either are playing on a server far away or you back and have an ip ban. However if it is the first then try playing on the server with lowest ping WITHOUT a VPN, VPN's in themselves are horrible to try and use with planetside 2, trust me.:steamhappy: hope this helped in someway

Thanks everyone, my I ask what a VPN is, I have just started a full computer scan to make sure theres no viruses but I don't know what a VPN is, sorry about that but i'm not great with that stuff, thanks!
(Btw Ishan, I saw the post calling you out as a troll or whatever but I just want to say that is seriosly wrong, you and elemantal are so nice to help me out I can't understand how someone can accuse you of hacking and stuff!)

VPN refers to Virtual Private Network in general, but in this specific case an Anominizer like TOR Network. Basically the use of a Proxy Server to access the internet.

Could it be that you are maybe accessing the internet through a campus/university network or something?

Its been going on for months now. I can only suggest to simply try to ignore it and best not to get involved in it. I am doing my best to do the same, and let people make their own opinion about me. :)

Admittedly, that is not that easy to always stay away from it when your name constantly gets dragged through the mud.

Thanks for the replys guys, I have done a full norten scan last night and will try again.
My internet is private and paid for so I believe it isn't a proxy.
Also I do have log-me in hamatchi but that is just because sometimes people tell me to use it for terraria servers for example, could this be a problem?
Anyway thanks for the help and I will report back!

Ah, there you go. It's possible that hamatchi is messing with your launcher, not sure if this issue is exclusive to PS2 as pretty much every Station game that's still active uses that kind of launcher even the old ones like Everquest and the original Planetside.

You've got a choice man, uninstall Hamatchi so you can play Station games or keep it and use it instead of port forwarding.
Thanks for the reply XD, but doing a Norten scan fixed it, thanks anyway!

Glad to hear it bro, good luck!

If you're interested and up for a bit of punishment then i also reccomend getting the original game, you can download it here:

https://www.planetside.com/register

Don't worry the link is safe, it's the same place i downloaded it when i reinstalled it.

Keep in mind, barely anyone plays it but there are times when the game gets a population burst of about 10-40 at most. Doesn't sound like much by PS2's standards granted but the game came out in 03 and the maps can only handle 300 people max as far as i know so cut it some slack. That being said, there are also more maps in Planetside than PS2, not to mention for the most part they feel alot bigger.
Ok, I probably wont as I mainly want to play with my freind who probably wont get it but I might give it a try sometime, thanks!
