Answer: its not happening
Why: Why make another live service if its just a continuation of a previous one and possibly lose players who stuck with planetside 2? Why not just update previous one rather than gamble the money you have to people who may not be interested in a 3rd game?
Games get outdated graphically and game mechanically. And that's not how game development works. Development limitations are very stricting aspects and even if a game and engines supporting huge overhauls, often the effort and time isn't worth it. It is easier and cheaper to create a new game. (But that's not just the case in game development. That's how it works everywhere)
And people who are fans of the franchise will move on to the new title anyway. So sorry but your take on this is very narrow minded.
Don't get me wrong i would love it that would work that easily like that. But that's not the world we live in.
The average was around 3.750 to 4.500 through out it's lifespan - since 2 1/2 month we are in the 2.000 range player wise
I would love that but... *Looks at the game industry as a whole.* Maybe let the idea be just an idea for few more years, I have a feeling it is going to be monetized to hell...
I mean in 2016, that warhammer 40k mmo (which was pretty similar in concept) failed pretty spectacularly, and had a pretty similar business model to this game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000:_Eternal_Crusade
Doesn't really feel like there's a whole lot of room for this kind of game to earn it's money back for the initial investors.
Especially with the EU push against lootboxes, I feel like a "freemium" game would be smart to milk the cow they have and not plan to get another cow any time soon. Probably want to wait and see what happens in the EU before investing in a new pay-to-play mmo.
