Ultra Low potato settings for FPS and experimentation
Im hungry for fps I have a GT 710 and usually around 45 to 50 fps in small medium fights and 25 to 30 in large fights anyway I can increase my fps I really like planetside and would like to enjoy it without the framerate dipping from high to low most of the time .

Don't feed trolls. Or at least be self aware when you do.

Obvious stuff like minimize stuff running in the background. Who needs antivirus when you can just nuke your C:\ and reinstall your OS?

Make sure all those pesky launchers are put away, too, if you have launchers other than steam like Origin or Epic or w/e. Even if it doesn't improve your framerate noticeably, if you experience drops those should smooth out.

Try tweaking your GPU too. Manually force it to use lower impact methods like, say, FXAA or w/e.

The 2 biggest effects will be by lowering your render resolution, and lowering your view distance. You can get an almost unplayably low render resolution of 400x300 by 50% render resolution of 800x600. It'll look like a Nintendo64 game but it'll run fast on any gpu. Alternatively try opening your UserOptions.ini file in your base planetside directory and finding the render distance setting, and try lowering it. When i had a potato PC i kept it at about 150m since that's enough to cover the width of most bases for infantry fights. Try playing around with the number. If you want you can make the file read only and any changes you make to your settings will reset to your custom file wherever you launch the game.

Honest answer: you need better hardware. Suggest you start looking on ebay for better used parts. I sold my Rx 570 for $80 about 3 months ago. I payed $180 for it new.

I just built my third AMD system for this game and others and it has the best fps yet.

My current rig just in case anyone is considering AMD.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster 212 EVO with an extra Artic P12 fan in push
Motherboard: ASUS AM4 TUF GAMING X570-Plus ATX
Ram: G. Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR 4 3600
Video Card: MSI Radeon DirectX 12 RX 5700 MECH OC 8GB 256-Bit
HD: WD 1TB Blue
Power Supply:CORSAIR TX-M Series TX650M
Computer Case: Rosewill Nautlius. Left over from the last build.
OS: Win 10

According to the software for the video card I'm getting an average frame rate of 99 fps playing planetside 2. This is with everything on ultra including shadows. I have seen the frame rate drop to 60 fps in certain areas of a big fight.

I choose the video card because my current monitor only runs at 60Hz and I'll be buying one that does 1440p and 150HZ in the future.

My last set up was a i5 8400 with a RX 570 and ran planetside 2 pretty well.

This game is CPU demanding look into upgrading your CPU but that could cost a lot since if its an older board like mine you'll have to upgrade board and CPU and RAM ddr4 16GB I have ASUS Z97 aniversary series, ddr3 16GB 2432Hz, gtx 1660 ti OC 6GB, i5-4460k 3.20GHz quad core and 1tb SSD plus a massive cooler master case H500 series is amazing all i need to do is upgrade cpu and mother board and RAM thats the pricey half. I play on Ultra and have lowest fps in biggest fight of 94+ enemys of 45FPS smallest battles I have my FPS capped to 75 since my monitor is a 75Hz. Good luck tho on getting the FPS you demand I too was in that same situation

Thank you for being honest and I know this but i love experimenting with this set-up and do not plan on getting rid of it .

Buy a new Intel CPU they are around $500 USD for something good like a 8700k, and around $150 for a motherboard, and then buy an nVidia GPU like an RTX 2080 which are only around $800 USD so...thats not bad.

spoilers, a GT model GPU, isnt really meant for gaming. it CAN but so is intel integrated graphics just as capable.

plenty of GPU on the market are well priced and one could easily build a whole new rig for 800$, then get a better GPU later when they can afford it.

I'm reassured reading this because I thought my computer was busted trying to play this game again in 2020. Getting fps drops to like 55-60 in big battles while being 120+ elsewhere (playing with all ultra settings)

I guess the game just isn't optimized well for CPU.
