Any other games that radiate combined arms warfare like Planetside?

Looking for a game to replace my playtime in the dying husk that is PS2. So far I've found Angels Fall First but the multiplayer seems pretty dead which is unfortunate. It has bots though but I don't like predictable NPCs.

Honestly that game deserves so much more love. It has such a small community but I've heard it's great fun when the community gets together for community nights. I haven't bought the game myself but I think I might!

We already had several threads like this. Check those out for recommendations.
The general consensus is that there is no other game like this one. The Uniqueness is the sole reason why this game is still somewhat alive, despite all the many flaws.

Angels Fall First is dead. It was one of those "could have been"-games.

Arma 3 is similar from a combined arms stance and the possibility for bigger battles on a huge persistent map. It's more milsim-focused, but it has a pretty decent editor that allows you to build scenarios/skirmishes/mp-gametypes/etc. The game is pretty much the FPS-version of "Use Map Settings" maps from Starcraft and Warcraft 3. I'm pretty sure Player Unknown's Battlegrounds started off as a mod for Arma 3.

MP is pretty interesting if you find a good server.

No No, OP is right. PS2 is kind of picky with what works well with it simply bc of the age of the engine.

In terms of alternatives, here is a bunch:

Renegade X - FREE Command and Conquer Strategic multiplayer shooter where teams try to destroy an enemies base while managing their finite resources. There are full games regularly

A Path Beyond - the Red Alert Version of the previous. Use the W3D discord to find organized games

Eximius: FPS/RTS Multiplayer game. Had a rough launch, servers are likely sparse

Natural Selection 2: Team FPS/RTS hybrid with emphasis on FPS and communication. much smaller maps

Executive Assault 1 & 2: FPS/RTS that's more RTS than FPS

Squad with Galactic Contentions: Large scale tactical shooter except with SW theme

Arma 3 - If you enjoyed outfit ops you might enjoy running with a clan that does ops with SW or Halo themed mods

Running with Rifles - top down tactical shooter. Massive maps lots of ai. Servers are usually Coop though.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 EA w/ Supremacy mode.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 classic w/ mods (ex swbf3: legacy mod) - servers are usually available with classic bf2

Angels Fall First fairly large battles with space fights and ship boarding. * Servers deserted, but the game is playble single player

Tribes Ascend - team battle on massive maps at high speed. See the reddit page to see how to get online.

Infinity: Battlescape Planetside 2 battles in space. Servers are fairly unpopulated except at prime time/ at events

X3/4, Freespace 1/2, Xwing Alliance same reason as above except singleplayer

Squad - I love it. The game design encourages teamwork (squads with voice), combined arms, etc.

Post Scriptum - made using the Squad engine, but WWII. Low population though. No planes.

Hell Let Loose - mind-blowing simulation. Not a lot of combined arms, but they are adding new vehicles soon. No planes. Too much artillery. :P

Well a good combined arms game I play, which is almost nothing like Planetside 2 & just as old, is Rising Storm Vietnam 2. Game is fast paced, up to 80 players on one map. Can't use ground vehicles, but theres a lot of choppers & planes blowing everyone up. Also you can call in air strikes, dig tunnels for your team to spawn. Graphics aren't like Call of Duty, but they're not bad & the game is totally NOT dead...
