Cloaked infils are too easy to see
They should just bite the bullet and make them invisible plain and simple. Clientside hit-detection means that a spotted (obviously not q spotted) cloaked infiltrator is just dead. It also means that people with a better knowledge of how to tweak the settings have a huge advantage.

To compensate for the clientside advantage it would give infiltrators, just give them a 1/3 second greater delay after uncloaking before they can do damage. This also would remove the stupid medium/short-range snap shot infiltrators that simply abuse clientside.

Nothing wrong with the motion sensors, nightlights, or other de-cloaking/detecting devices.

Usually the steam forums are full of incredibly stupid ideas, but here's a rare one I actually agree with.

I've killed an enormous number of infiltrators who I only saw whilst invisible, including many who were standing still with stalker cloak.
Perhaps a good compromise would be making the cloaking implant make you completely invisible.

No, thanks. It's bad enough the way it is right now. If they ever introduce a fix for the client-side cloaking issues you mentioned, we can talk again.

No.

Biting this particular bullet would be fatal for the game most likely. Besides, infiltrators are already pretty strong if your aim is good and you know how to position yourself. They did actually did make the change you are suggesting accidentally one or two years ago (think it was around the time of the DX11 patch) and it made infiltrators comically overpowered. They became objectively unbeatable in any infantry fight because as soon as they cloaked, you would have no idea what direction they went in and then they would just kill you a second later. It got fixed soon after but after seeing how poorly that went, perfect invisibility should never be introduced.

People already hate Infiltrators enough as is, the ability to make them out with a good eye is the only reason they aren't used absolutely everywhere. Deep operative is already good enough at making them hard to make out. If you're still getting seen with it, stop taking predictable routes and change how you approach people and objectives.

The only way to fix client-side anything is to reduce player numbers to the standard FPS game of 16v16 and run many many more de-sync checks per second. That would kill the game so it will never happen.

With an additional 1/3 a second delay on top of the current delay after de-cloaking, infiltrators would actually be less powerful - except for those that used the cloak for good positioning, instead of just cheesing client-side, which they currently do.

Not a bad idea. It would force infiltrators to really compromise on other implants.

I've seen plenty of cope for and against infiltrators, emboldens me to claim it's all just cope and that yall need to stop coping.

If you're spotting infils too easily its their fault for not playing the class right. If you know what to do most people won't even notice, unless they're a vet with a good eye
J6 Jun 3, 2021 @ 12:01am
I'm blind then because I almost never see them unless they are de-cloaking

The only reliable decloaking device is a flashlight - motion sensors don't detect crouched enemies + there are implants to avoid them completely. Infiltrators also got buffed by removing the danger of being spotted by IF sights when cloaked.

The very last thing the class needs is an easier way to squeeze the META of their cloaks even harder

The new texture of skybox from the storm on esamir made cloakers easier to see.
Even from a bit of range, they were almost high lighted. Atleast now that the storm is gone, it might be fixd there.

Whats with the NSO infils? are they easier to see?
Hirmikss™ Jun 4, 2021 @ 10:57am
you do realise you wont be able to see infi 5 m in front of you on all low settings, only if u play on high, hell to this day i dont get on why they buffed infi cloak and made the implant irrelevant
