Pay 2 Win??
It's been a couple of years I haven't played. Came to see comments and planning to reinstall but found a lot of people saying now it's pay to win. Is that for real?

not that much, they simply made the grind as a f2p horrible, even daily quest don't help thant. you'll need so many hours before you can do anything meaningfull other that spam repair/heal to grind cert.

It's actually still not p2w. But it takes incredibly long to max out things, or to just get good.
One aspect which became especially harder for new players is getting implants. Almost impossible.
Although I have nothing against the grind at the moment, as there is more stuff to unlock.

It's pay to progress. The grind can be a pain, but it's still doable for f2p players - if you plan your expenses a bit.

I'd say the only truly tedious thing to get are Implants, which you can argue can really help you out and make you better, but I would not call the game P2W. If you are good at FPS games, you can kill people who have thousands of hours, easily

Honestly, I think it is safe to say that is game is NOT a pay to win as you can get pretty much anything with certs (in-game currency) thus without having to pay with real money. Additionallly, the abilities for your classes can ONLY be bought using certs and not daybreak cash (another currency you get with real cash this time)
Overall I would say it's more of a Pay To Not Grind or Pay To Look Cool. My main recommendation would be for you to join an outfit as quickly as possible as it allows you to get XP boost without having to pay in real cash. Plus, being in squads, which is more likely to happen if you are in an outfit, gives you an XP bonus, so less grind overall.

I hope this will help you.

600 hours in game, the only thing i've spent money on were cosmetics, never felt like i need to spend them on anything else gameplay related.

Before anyone says more "it isn't a pay to win game"....
NSO Defector with Grenade Printer hands and Seraph Shield.
No, no... that sure isn't a paid for, clear advantage in the game... Not at all.

I hardly remember anyone playing those, but I didn't see many players playing NS in general. Can't really judge that, but if I got that right, the whole faction will turn f2p soon.

I like how you defend the company by changing the subject. Spoken like a true fanboi.

Yes, I'm well known for being a fanboy here.

Jokes aside, how am I wrong or even defending anything? You don't make much sense.

Well, you are wrong because Pay to Win describes games that allow you to purchase items or abilities that give you a clear advantage over other players or NPC's. Planetside 2 has allowed players to do this, with the NSO Defector. If you can't accept the truth, and cling to promised words of "but it will become a free feature soon in the future", then you are foolish. Don't be foolish, future boy. Goodnight.

Well that was edgy...

I have no idea if you are right, so, like I wrote, I can't judge that.
And I thought that NS going to be f2p was on this year's update plan already.

And now - calm down. Get yourself a cookie and a glass of milk.
Percello Feb 23, 2021 @ 10:58am
There's nothing P2W about this game, especially since most weapons require at least some level of skill to play effectively. You can buy weapons and vehicle weapons, but the base weapons given to you are equal, if not better. Every weapon has its pros and cons.

"Pay to Win describes games that allow you to purchase items or abilities that give you a clear advantage over other players THAT IS NOT OBTAINABLE ANY OTHER WAY" is the definition, if you can grind it for free its not pay2win.
