Is the Archer Anti-Material rifle underrated?
It seems very versatile because it is a sniper rifle that can damage every unit in the game. Yeah it is very bad against infantry in CQC but you have your secondary (emissary) for that. The engineer is a support class anyway.

The archer is a surprisingly effective anti aircraft weapon. A couple of people with archers can scare off a liberator sometimes.

Once got a bastion kill with my archer

Archer and its variant you get through A7 are both great, the Archer deals with other engineer's placements and shreds MAX units with no effort, and is a great way to chip other vehicles down which is a huge difference in tank battles.

It's very underrated and thank goodness it is, if all engineer players knew of its uses it'd probably have to get its vehicle damage nerfed considering it's practically unavoidable, for ground at least.

It is and to second Scarlet I agree.
Thank god it's underrated because 4+ people with archers are a fairly annoying group in terms of AA/AV.

I use it a ton when their are many max's or armour and flying annoyances and the benefit is you don't need any lock on time so can get off a few shots fast

When you get ASP you can run archer shotgun combo.

Battle Rank 100 is very far away

It's one of those utility things which don't seem to do much most of the time, but which you definitely wish you had when you actually need them.
An archer makes a huge difference to how much face time MAXes get, it can actually make a dent in air, harassers, lets you finish off burning tanks before they can retreat, gets rid of deployables in no time... Pair it with an ASP shottie or AR and you don't even have to compromise!
I run archer in 4 of my 6 engie loadouts, just wouldn't feel right without it.

Me and a few outfit mates will frequently get a squad or two with archers in a nice high spot and kill tanks and aircraft in the distance. They normally send a platoon to deal with us because they get mad AF. Good memes lol

I also like to have a separate engineer loadout for when I'm supporting a MAX with an archer as the primary so I can help kill enemy MAXes.
