use out of a base, unless you just want unlimited ESFs or orbital strikes.
But i have tried the router and its really hard to deploy it without it getting killed and actually helping a base. (i hate snipers nest)
Do you have any tips on router play? i have given up on it
Yeah I know what you mean. A LOT OF TIMES I GET KILLED TOO. The key is to find the best deployment locations for routers and get a team to coordinate together with them. Squad and Platoon leaders can make great use of routers as opposed to solo players. You'll need to learn leadership to make maximum use of them. However certain bases will generally attract a lot of spawns with a router. THE BEST EXAMPLES ARE TECH PLANTS AND AMP STATIONS. The walls and generators make taking them a pain so having a router allows you to circumnavigate these problems. I'll try and get some pictures of a proper router setup to help you.
Some tips
1. Engineer cover, grenades are a routers worst enemy, the wall protects the router immensely.
2. Keep with your team, the more teamates, the safer the router is and less likely to be noticed since enemies will be preoccupied.
3. Hidden locations, putting a router in a bush or under water makes it harder to find and therefore a safer location. Whether or not its a good staging point for your team varies from base to base.
Engineer shield is a good tip, but i usually am infiltrator, i guess redepoy directly after.
When you build your tiny base (deep inside friendly territory) make sure to include a light air terminal. Switch to light assault, get the router, pull an aircraft, fly to whatever base is being contested, bail out, and use your jetpack to put your router in a location that will help your faction get to the fight, but which will not be easily accessible to the enemy.
EXACTLY! One additional thing to consider is get as close to your warpgate as possible. 6,000k nodes spawn there frequently, your in a safe position, and the warpgate is accessible at all times making it easy to spawn there if you don't have a spawn tube and air terminal set up.
More often than not, that base will probably be built up by other players if the battle goes longer than expected turning it into something like an OS base or a proper base with walls and vehicle terminals.
