Lol thank you for your advice, i might take it.
I've touched bases like the first 2 hours when they came out. My thoughts? "WTF is this?". Then went back to real gameplay: paired up with a lib pilot friend of mine and went hunting all those people in their little cars playing minecraft. hundreds of free certs.
Player bases are another case of a failed mechanic strapped over existing ones. It never really fit in, it's mostly forgettable and just annoying for the rest of the people having to dodge orbital strikes every 10 minutes.
The problem with trolls is true but building a base has nothing to do with minecraft. You need to plan a good base, find a good spot, build it correctly and most of the time it's worth it. Orbital strikes are not very powerfull in fights with 48+ enemies because they will get back in the fight in seconds and sometimes you kill more allies than enemies because they just won't get out of the range of the orbital strike.
(The wouldn't even leave the area at the right time, if it was marked half an hour before.)
It also should not be easier or faster to build a base. In case it would, there will definately be too much bases build.
Maybe they should make the "AI-Module" better so they can defend the base when you're farming cortium. They could also give the Turrets (and some other constructions too) more HP so they can't get destroyed that easy. Often one Magrider/Brawler is enough to destroy a whole base with every turret + AI-Module and thats just unfair.
If you're not enjoying building bases that's okay but don't flame base builders. Maybe you should try to find someone who's also building bases. When you're 2+ it's easier to defend it against lonely trolls.
Nice message
Just get an ANT full (10000 units of cortium) approach their base from a hidden location. Drop the silo, fill it, and place the glaive cannon and flail. Also drop a bunker within range of the silo so you can switch classes.
Switch to stalker infiltraitor and grab the targeting gun for the glaive cannon. Remember the glaive cannon has a 1000 meter range.
Get near the enemy base with the orbital up link. Shoot the glaive targeting gun near any sky shield module or in the center of the base. The glaive cannon will damage modules, detonate mines and do damage to vehicles on direct hit.
Next go back to your little base and grab the targeting gun for the flail. The glaive cannon will keep firing at their base on its own. Start targeting their base and target any ai modules near their orbital up link.
You can kill orbital bases in this manner. I've done it.
Both manners of attack are defendable by solo players. Just make sure you have the spit fire unlocked to help cover some blind spots.
Now 24/7 would usually drop in with a galaxy with at least two maxes. Sometimes I'd hold them off sometimes I'd get over run.
Solo stalkers are pretty easy with a pistol with the dark light attached.
My load out as a solo engineer would be the auto shotgun.
I have done this a few times, its really stressfull doing that at the same time as building a base and defending your base especially in a busy place.
But i never tried building a silo near them, il keep that in mind next time.
if your building a base on a capture node territory where you build to defend a control point, that base will have some meaning.
or maybe your goal is to get a light vehicle depot behind enemy lines to out flank them.
or your Terran and so you build the wall on indar between quartz ridge and the territory north of it, all the way from the edge of the map to the hill indar comm sits on. (border wall reference!) me and my group, along with a random platoon got this setup. it was something like 5 Silos, lots of repair mods and just straight Walls in a big line across the desert dividing territory. NC had to go around because it was too open and too well defended. easily the silliest thing i've been apart of.
Until we ran into this, there was another base in the right out of screen in the mountains. It probably slowed us down for around 20 mins or so. Lol crazy cause i was just talking about this and this is the most bases ive ever come across lol
