Think it's about £18 for us Brits. Choose your name carefully!

That's why I always tell people to not name the char they'll stick with something like 0815694237 or xXxSwagL0rdZxXPu55yxXXDestr0yerxXx. Nonetheless many people still seem to have the urgent need for that extra xXMLGxMountainDewrito420Noscope-ness in their name.

You're complaining about a name change cost in a free to play game?

Even subscription based games make you pay for name changes.

Last I checked this was a subscription game even if it can be played for free. But don't even try to justify the stupid price tag. Big games set the price to prevent thousands of players from changing frequently. PS2 set the price high because no one who knows the value of a dollar is stupid enough to bother.

when you grab a name for the first time, use one or more of the following thoughts as you make it.

make it funny or ironic

make it something that represents you as a individual

make it something that you know will stand out or become a name of legend or infamy.

then you wont have to buy a name change. honestly i'd like to see character transfers. i'll pay to have me and all my friends in my gaming group that dont want to afford it to get OFF connery...

Let me rephrase that then. Games that make you pay full retail price and a subscription to play, still charge for a name change.

You're complaining that in a game with 1000s of free to play players, a name change facility is a premium. Guess what, even smaller games set the price to prevent hundreds of players from changing frequently.

AFAIK the process is manual for DBG, that's the reason for the high price.

Yeah the store prices are pretty insane, honestly I feel like they get more buyers if they lowerd the prices across the board.
Woolish Apr 5, 2018 @ 2:24pm
The reason name changes are so expensive is because they dont have a system to do it automatically, and each time someone buys it a dev has to take some time to go manually change the name.

WoW developers had to manually change names too and maually transfer characters between servers at one time. And when I contact support for my cell provider, cable company, insurance agent (whatever) they have to manually enter data too. But none of them charge me $25 to type a few words into a screen. So don't try to justify the price because someone has to spend less than a few minutes of their time to copy and paste a single word. Even $10 would still be more than enough to prevent abuse in a game as small as PS2. They probably don't even have a full time coder on the team anymore. Otherwise it would have taken a few hours at most to automate something so trivial.
