Were characters wiped?

Like many other games I return to after some time off, my characters are seemingly gone and wiped. Did this game migrate and like so many others not send a single email to the people who provided one when setting up their account and helped kickstart the original launch?

My friends and I were all founders , and have had the same emails since the inception of email. It says I have 8/12 characters yet i cant access any of them. Please tell me this isnt the 3rd steam game this year that pulled that same sh1t.

Make sure you are using the same account you created your characters on, you'd be surprised how many people claim their characters were wiped and it turns out they had 10 different accounts across 3 different email accounts and were just logging into the wrong one.

If you haven't played for YEARS, then yes. They did a mass character wipe like, 3-4 years ago. If you were playing more recently, then I would recommend either doing what Mexiguy said, or contacting customer support.

Yeah its been a few years for me and my playcircle. Got in there tonight and its was a ghost town on the us server. Was usually me alone on the NC fighting a small squad of 4 or so people every where I went. Even when it was locked down to one cont (which felt really weird from what im used to in past) it still coulldnt bottleneck enough people in to even get backup lol.

Was looking forward to getting all my buddies back into this, there use to be like 20 of us to platoon up. With a character wipe no one I know will come back now. Sucks because I like the new model as opposed to the old pay per month which I was never a fan of.

I dont understand why these companies dont send emails out to people who subbed and provided them when something like this happens.

Honestly, you might've logged in either after a server crash, or just at off-peak hours. If it's night time in US, it's off peak. They just put out a major update, so the servers have gone down and back up a couple times. It does sound to me that you just got unlucky with off time though.

Now, honestly, if you were thinking of getting back into the game, do it! 1: It's double exp week for all. 2: The game has changed almost entirely since you last played. It's not as much of a grind to unlock things, and having new things to explore will be a blast. There are new, big outfits, filled with friendly people that would LOVE to help y'all get back into the game, and have fun doing it. Don't look at it as lost progress, but as a fresh start!

Yeah game has changed a ton, was good to be back in there and remembering the days. I would say its more of a grind now though since when I played way back in the days before bfr's crushed most people out of game, I remember certing them and playing for about 6months more or so. From the time I spent on the weekend and today I havent even earned enough to cert one gun and made it to around br 15 or so.

Wish they started you off with some, 1-2k or so would let you buy one thing like say the engy spitfire and one gun, wouldnt seem to bad. Especially considering some of my friends spent 100's of $ on this game on top of sub fees back when micro purchases got released and now will have nothing to show for it with deleted accounts, doubt its even possible to talk them into trying it again ;-/

If they payed any money on the account, all their stuff is still around and their characters have not been wiped. As mentioned before, chances are they logged into another account. Keep in mind that you can even have multiple under the same email address. Try contacting CS about it, if they still have the same CC number or some other authentication they should be able to be helped.

Nice, I know most of us spent at least a little something over the years. Hope that turns out to be the case, have gone through this with 2 other games in the past year and neither of them ended with getting account back.

It's less of a grind. You may remember things being different, but the game is objectively easier now. You get more XP and more free certs.

If it's briggs you're talking about then yeah, server is basically dead

@Oorcus Originally I played standalone. Beta tested then played up until around the time they released the BFR's in game which is when everyone in my playcircle started dropping.

@Treyu Yeah you are right, ended up on the wrong server somehow that day. Guess its nice to have an option for slower spec op type gameplay with a couple buddies.


@llandar The certs are what feels like such a grind this time around. In about 20 or so hours of gameplay i have gotten to level 13 and about 1200 or so certs, not sure if that is less than most get for that much time but man that it feels slow when you are a noobie toon with nothing but the starter builds. Have only unlocked nano armor and the engy spit so far.

Any luck working this out i have the same problem. 8/12 last played 18 months ago?

To be honest I havent tried yet, this is a busy week for me. I know they still exist since all their names are still taken. The last couple times I had to try to recover was a giant hassle and timesink, so it has been putting me off of trying.

If you contact them post back here and let me know the results please.

I have not played in a good amount of years, I had to recover my username and password it has been that long.

Last I played I only had maybe 3 characters and I'm assuming they got wiped due to inactivity or it's on one of the other usernames associated to my email address has it (if that even matters) but anyway, I created a character done the training and all that then logged off to see it also says I have 8/12 characters when I know for a fact I did not even make more than 3, one for each faction back then.

So I can only assume that it is a bug, but the possibility that your characters were wiped is quite possible as I seen a post that mentioned inactive characters were removed.

For the record, I went into recovery as well. None of my characters were gone (as far as I know) but I did for some reason have like 6 different accounts. Once i found the main one with all my guys the four i played most and remember are all there with all their equipment.

Wish they had refunded all certs so i could properly build them again. Not sure why they decided recerting is something that is so abuseable that it isnt even possible anymore. Giving people the opportunity to recert once a month wouldnt be all that game breaking. Hell i could do it in ps1 every 24-48 hours and most everyone I know still only did it maybe once a month, most never did it at all.
