Report a translation problem
Just pull back on the decelerator (default "S") when coming in for a landing. Tilting the nose up can also help.
Even when you do land, the plane will bob for a second or so after you get out as the engines turn off. If the trust is still going enough that the plane takes off again when you get out then you want to let go of the accelerator (default "W") when your trying to stop moving.
That, or you somehow hit the boost when you did get out.
....I'm also not kidding about the plane landing itself. I've seen mine land in places that I don't think I could have got it into without blowing it up.
