low fps on good pc
Hi everyone.

I started to play ps2 yesturday.
but fps is about 50 in middle battle,30 in large battle.
Its not unplayable, but i think it should run better.

My pc
i5-4460
GTX980
12GB RAM

Drivers are latest.

I know my cpu is not good but it runs other new games(PUBG CoD:WW2 .etc) with Hi fps.
I tested on low settings and Ultra but fps was same.
Any ideas?

Try to change some settings to "Medium" and keep those more important for you on high (Textures, models, etc)... Reduce detail render distance to 3.000 or so... Besides, you should reduce resolution, wich helps a lot and it's not more important than realistic FX for example....

I've an older i5 3570k + GTX 960 2gb + 8 ram... but i feel the FPS are ok having in mind that there are thousands players spawning stuff and interacting with each other...

your GPU is strong enough to run this on mostly ultra settings as far as im aware, im on a 980ti and unless theres some really janky stuff goin on, i dont dip below 60 fps.

just some mechanical things i'd check, make sure your GPU is free of dust as well as your CPU cooling system be it liquid radiator or heat sink.

check your driver versions for your GPU, the latest doesnt always play nice with everything. i'll pull up my specific version number if you want to try that. (mine is 388.13) you can get it from the nvidia website if you serch for manual driver versions.

and yeah as hunter said you could reduce resolution, i dunno what your native res is for your monitor but you might run the game at 1080p and see how that works out. i play in 2k myself which is pushing it but i make everything run well in my native res or bust.

Turn shadows off.

And make sure the drivers you are using aren't chit. Sometimes the latest drivers are not the best pick. And when you get a driver that works good don't update until you actually have a need to do so.

yep its what i've done all my life. "yay new game!" runs like crap. "update drivers!" game run gud.

this cycle repeats with any new game that doesnt perform and i cant nail down any other potential cause. lately it seems like DRM is an easy to blame cause as so many companies cling to it. thankfuly for stuff like this they dont use DRM, just anti cheat software.

It's a CPU problem. If you see TOO many players, your cpu getting f* up. Believe me I have this problem too. Turn DSR on and change ur resolution if u r using 1080p then go 2k. Then game going to use more GPU, and game looking really good with DSR. When you adapted the "gameplay", it will be fine. Do not care fps, just get enjoy.

Planetside 2 is known to be hard on computer's. Your stated fps of 50fps and 30fps are actually good for this game.

If you want better performane the only thing that I know that works is to turn shadows off and set textures to the highest setting as this forces the gpu to process the textures instead of the cpu.

The reason stated by Daybreak as to why this game runs poorly has to due to some microsoft update that doesn't apply to the directX 9 standard that this game uses.

oh lol i forgot about this game still being DX 9. i wonder if its possible to update this game for DX 10 and if it'd help? or if daybreak would want to use precious money to even try that.

Thanks for response.
I clean installed an old driver.
Fps increased to around 70 in Amnes.
But after I warped to Hossin, fps turned back to
around 30.
In big battle,it decrease to 20.
I also tested each graphics settings, but fps was same.

I found the solution to run the game that use dx9 better.
It says

Get d3d9.dll and install to game folder.
Do yon think it work?

worth a shot, just scan it because you never know where malware could be hidden. i've had a few .dll fix suggestions end with a file that, on the surface seemed to work but did other stuff as well. but if its from a trustworthy site then its probably no worries.
