How to get Planetside 2 to run better.
I know this game is very hard on slower computers. My laptop has trouble running this game on low graphic settings. Here are some components. Any tech tips to get it running decent?

6.00 GB ram; 64bit operating system; Intel Core

Any advice at all would be appreciated.

Glory for TR.

What GPU does that laptop have? Or is it integrated graphics? (Part of your CPU)

The below is some of the Useroptions.ini settings I tried out within the last month or so. Results weren't bad, either. Keep in mind I don't quite have a potato system; graphics card is just lacking but the rest is good. Been able to keep a good 75~ish FPS in most cases. It should be noted I have not played since before the Oct. 24th patch, so my performance could change since latest update and I wouldn't know about it.

My PC specifications:
  • Intel Core i5 4690k @ 3.5 GHz (3.9 GHz Turbo)
  • MSi Geforce GTX 750 Ti Twin Frozer OC
  • 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 1666 MHz RAM (XMP)
  • Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB
  • Windows 7 SP1
[Display] Mode=Fullscreen FullscreenMode=Fullscreen FullscreenRefresh=0 FullscreenWidth=1440 FullscreenHeight=900 WindowedWidth=1024 WindowedHeight=768 Maximized=0 RenderQuality=1.000000 [Rendering] OverallQuality=-1 GraphicsQuality=1 TextureQuality=0 ShadowQuality=0 LightingQuality=1 EffectsQuality=1 TerrainQuality=1 FloraQuality=4 ModelQuality=1 RenderDistance=4000.000000 Gamma=0.000000 VerticalFOV=73.74 ParticleLOD=4 ParticleDistanceScale=0.000000 FogShadowsEnable=0 VSync=0 AO=1 MaximumFPS=75 UseLod0a=0 BloomEnabled=0 MotionBlur=0 Smoothing=0

Feel free to try out these settings. Note that I have been using ParticleDistanceScale at 0. Normally that removes smoke, but with my setup, it actually has black smoke. That's because "GraphicsQuality" is at 1, and not 3. 2 would still yield black smoke. GraphicsQuality less than 3 along with ParticleLOD being anything higher than 1 produces the black smoke. It's a small price to pay for the performance gains. 1440 x 900 is a crappy resolution for my 24-inch 1080p-native monitor, but performance gains were significant, with reductions in input lag as a result.

The reason for using higher particle LODs is because of the fact that you can remove most particles from being visible, while retaining the aftereffects of them. For example, you can still see your own tank shots, ESF nosegun bullets, etc. So far the only bad part about it is the lack of being able to see through the smoke, with or without IR/NV scopes, or threat detection.

Thank you for the suggestion! I'll try this out and maybe I can finally be helpful.
