PlanetSide 2

PlanetSide 2

Can't update game file "Access is Denied"
I've tried to update the game all night but there seems to be just one file which it can't update, I've tried running as administrator, giving the PS2 launcher admin priviliges I even unlocked the Microsoft elevated administrator account and gave my account permission to do anything but nothing is working. The error is
"Unable to write to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/PlanetSide 2/PlanetSide2_x64.exe - http://pls.patch.daybreakgames.com/patch/sha/planetside2/planetside2.sha.zs/56/867/5c8d4601b4a473dfa112041a1a443bfbe06. The file may be in use or you may lack the necessary permissions to install."
If you guys could help that would be amazing.
P.s. I have already tried turning off firewall and antivirus and UAC.

First off, you need to make sure that the game itself isn't running for some reason. Check your task manager to make sure that PlanetSide2_x64.exe isn't running while you're trying to update.

If that doesn't work, I'd try deleting that file and then try to update.

Best of luck
hey i have that issue befor and if its saying that in the steam download just open task manager and shutdown the igfxEM Moudle
So I've attempted a reinstall but now steam can't install the game because the "content file is locked" and I tried deleting PlanetSide2_x64 but I didn't have permissions to so I tried using the elevated administrator account and that didn't work either. Also attempted shutting down the ifxEM Module and didn't do anything. The developers need to sort this kinda crap out, it happens to so many people. Anyways any other ideas?
This has just happened to me, apparently you have to edit the access permissions to the Planetside 2 file in you steam installation. This didn't work for me though, so I had to uninstall steam and install it fresh in another place on my PC so that the files did not overlap and they could be accessed.
Just wondering did this mean you had to reinstall all of your games? If so could you just copy over those game files?
Alrighty I've fixed it, I did a reinstall of steam but I didn't move the install folder, just left it all default and this seems to have solved the problem.
Glad you were able to fix the situation.
