Same, I think it was disabled a while ago.

Its been diabled for years now . It was creating lots of issues and diabling it was their solution

But my friend said that it worked on him

He must have been talking about normal particles . That works fine , but the GPU Physx was stuff in the video below and it is not in game anymore

It doesn't, with no one. It became too demanding so they had to remove it.

It was removed because it caused actually have breaking bugs and nVidia left the concept of PhysX, so SOE had no support to fix it.

Actually it was removed because of the CPU bottleneck as that would push the game to breaking point much like the construction system does now.
I don't see how something that is done in a dedicated chip on the GPU could cause a CPU bottleneck.

The actual reason they removed it was because it caused lots of crashes and weird glitches like:

Actually the "dedicated chip" you're talking about was phased out once Nvidia bought out Ageia, the original developers of the technology. This chip isn't on any form of GPU however, it was on it's own card.

Also not every PhysX application is on the GPU, especially with the shoddy implementation under the hood in PS2 which like shadows relies more on a CPU than a GPU.
Yeah but PhysX particles in PS2 couldn't even be activated unless you had a PhysX-enabled nvidia card, so they clearly weren't done in the CPU.

Unlike the current implementation of particle effects, which are done in the CPU and one of the major causes of frame drops

In any case it'd be nice to have the option since this game is stupid easy to run...

It is certainly not easy to run this game, especially on low end hardware.

Well considering I built a system that could run it fine for $350 including a monitor 3 months ago, and a PS4 Pro is $399 new ATM, I'd say anything that runs well on a system that costs less than a console is easy to run. Granted, that build did have framedrops in fights over 48 per side, but again it was only a dual core and cost LESS than a console... If that's not low end hardware I don't know what is.

I miss PhysX :steamsad:

I have a physical turbo button because of my Rampage IV BE that works on LGA2011 CPUs with three frequency steps. It's only four years old.

I have been trying to clock my CPU a little bit more to claw some fps back, but ever since I installed win10 I can't get into my bloody bios.
