If you are going to fight in a base, get a sunderer from the base you next to it and deploy it somehwere useful, you will get exp for every ally that spawns in it.
You dont need to cert ANYTHING on the sunderer to do this so I highly suggest doing it at every base you attack. However you can cert into the utility slot things such as deployable shield, which increase the sunderers health, or vehicle stealth, which in the case of the sunderer cloaks it when deployed at the last level, making it the perfect spawn point for allies (this is very expensive but worth it in the long run for an infantry player.)
Also, you can spend certs on the sunderer to use them in other ways such as providing ammo or repairing allied vehicles, both of which give you exp. You could park and deploy an ammo sunderer in a good position close to an enemy base and get exp (and therefore certs) from spawning allies AND giving ammo as allied vehicles will check the map for ammo sunderers for a quick restock.
C4 is very useful in certain situations but its also quite expensive, you could get more certs more easially from certing your sunderer than C4 in my opinion...unless you play light assault, whos jetpacks obviously work very well with C4.
In general, just add certs to what you enjoy doing, I for example really enjoy tanking, so I put certs into my MBT's as soon as I could, but for when I play infantry I ALWAYS pull a sunderer and try to park it somewhere useful for my allies, even in our own bases, because if we get pushed back, having a sunderer close to our own capture point will help us defend more easily and then push out to attack again.
So i suggest just using the sunderer constantly for exp gain, and just worry about upgrading your infantry classes first as thats what you enjoy using!
Upgrade your medical applicator for medic to like lvl 4 and just spam revives in big fights. Hunderds of certs will come in fast.
The irony is, rigging out a vehicle and becoming good at it is a great way to farm certs. Especially if you have a MBT or harasser and you have a buddy. The majority of the certs I get come from doing directives and using vehicles. Being in vehicles and destroying other vehicles gets you certs much faster than if you were playing infantry (unless you're an infantry boss). Each faction has their own good anti-infantry gun which I would recommend using to farm infantry easily. Good luck
If you want to try vehicles without investing much, ask your outfit if anyone needs a gunner or can pull a vehicle for you. Players can let you drive by setting it to Squad, or pulling another vehicle and having you hop in the old one. If you aren't in a good outfit, find one, maybe on your server's subreddit (make sure to state your faction). If anyone here happens to be on Connery NC and wants to try fully upgraded harassers (Turbo, fire suppression, stealth, racer, Halberd/Mjolnir/semi-upgraded Canister), add me, pielord17.
Really it sounds like your first problem is how to earn certs. Its easier now than ever with the construction system. Get an ANT, find some cortium and mine it. Now to be useful to your faction you should deposit that cortium in a silo in a base. The other way is to mine cortium then drop a silo and deposit the cortium in it. Really not helping your faction this way but people do it.
After you learn how to earn certs you can start planning for your entry into vehicle game play. My suggestion is to choose either the lighting or the harasser. The benefits of the lightening is its armor and it can equip more powerful weapons. The harasser benefits from its speed and its ability to go where the lighting can't.
My lighting build:
1. Max racer chassis
2. Max NAR ( nanite armor repair)
3. Max IR smoke.
4. My primary weapons are the C75 viper,L100 python AP and the skyguard. These are equiped depending on the targets. All have max reload speed.
My main harasser build:
1. Max surger chassis.
2. Max composite armor.
3. Max fire suppresion.
4. Max turbo.
5. My primary weapons are the halberd, enforcer, mjolnir, basilik, canister and the walker. The first two have max reload speed the rest have max mag size except the basilik which is close to stock.
