Best SMG for infiltrator? (Vanu Sovereignty)
Anyone know a good SMG for infiltrator for the Vanu Sovereignty faction?
NS-7 PDW or Sirius?

I haven't heard anything good about the NS SMGs. I think both VS SMGs are fine, my guess is that Sirius is a little weaker but easier to use.

Having played little to no VS I can only offer my opinion on the two NS SMGs, well, at least the older two, still not used the new one. That said.

I tend to find that most people that liked the piece of s**t that is the PDW hate the MKV and most people that like the MKV hate the PDW. As you might guess, I'm in the latter group.

The PDW is a SMG that doesn't want to be an SMG but wants to be a carbine and while this gives it better range than most other SMGs it will still get outshot by all other carbines, as well as being outshot by all other SMGs at SMG ranges. If you can find the range between where it's to close for a carbine but to far for an SMG, it shines. Otherwise..... Well, lets just say I'm not very good at finding that range with it. When I'm holding an SMG my instinct is to use it as an SMG.
For attachments I started with an adv. laser but that was when trying to use it like any normal SMG and in the end found a compensator, extended mag, 2x scope and softpoint worked best. I did not have fun araxi-ing this gun.

It's amazing what a difrence a slight upping of a RoF can make to a gun. This is one of the biggest difrences with these two guns and lets the MKV still work as an SMG should at closer ranges than the PDW could manage while still having the better range that NS SMGs come with (or at least these two NS SMGs come with, still not used the new one).
A note on the always on suppressor, while out of the box this gives it worse bullet velocity than the PDW, that's only if the PDW is being used without a suppressor of its own. A MKV with softpoint has better velocity than a PDW with both softpoint and a suppressor, which on an infi is likely an attachment you'll probably be thinking of taking (or it always was for me).
Speaking of attachments, at first I'd started out with what I ended up using on the PDW (sans compensator of course) but quickly swapped the extended mag to an adv laser as with that what bullets I had went where I needed them to, even out to 20-25 meters with just hipfire.

Hope there was something in there (other than me hating on the PDW) that was usefull.

VS got the short hand of the stick when it comes to SMGs, sadly. You'd be much better off with TR or NC as SMG quality (Armstice and Cyclone are farming machines).

That said:

Sirius: strong in the extreme CQC department. 50 bullets allow you to be less precise and still deadly. Works best with laser sight and hip-fire. You really want to favor hip-firing with Sirius. It becomes increasingly worthless the further away your target is. Get in close, dunk your magazine fast thanks to the nice Rate of Fire, get out.

Eridani: You get a bit more range out of Eridani thanks to inferior bullet spread. This is an ADS SMG that won't work as good as Sirius in the Hip-fire department. You'll want to ADS with this. Rewards accuracy and headshots. You can go down the hip-fire road if you equip a Laser Sight but you'll pay off with a lesser magazine. Extended Mag is usually a good choice especially if you find yourself figthing more than one enemy at a time.

PDW: It's more like a mini-carbine than a true SMG. It a lower TTK than all faction-specific SMGs but it has the highest accuracy allowing you to pick targets that are further away and still land shots consistently. ADS and headshots are a must. If you are looking for more range out of your SMG this is a honest choice.

A bit old but still ok comparison of the two VS SMGs here:

Apparently I got sirius but I don't get many kills...
I always die first when I shoot someone with my sirius

You might be using it wrong. With infiltrator you have the power of starting the engagement at your advantage thanks to the cloak.

If you are not capitalizing on that you might either using the weapon in the wrong way (aka missing most shots) or you are playing the infiltrator the wrong way.

Why don't you record some footage of your gameplay? We might be able to spot what your problem is ;)

That would be... uhm... you. Meaning, infiltrator :P

You shoot the recon darts from your recon pistol and enemies entering the circle get spotted when they move. In alternative you can have your Motion Spotter (or dildar as we like to call it) that you put down and it detect enemy movement in its range. Pro of this: it's gonna last until destroyed, you can put down as many as you want per life. Cons: you need to be in the place you wanna put it down while Recon Darts you can shoot from afar.

Other than that, there are some vehicles which have access to Radar upgrades and they are gonna spot all moving enemies around them.

Uh, and friendlies MANUALLY spotting. Enemies are gonna show up on friendly minimaps even when you manually spot. Which, for every class except infiltrator is usually a good thing to ALWAYS do. As infiltrator you DO NOT want to manually spot unless you are far away and in a safe spot because spotting enemies will give out a call-out that enemies can hear so you'll just give away your presence and position making cloaking pointless.

as Nokta said, the armstice is a farming machine on TR, it aint no lie, when you go the to the faction where fast fire rate is their faction quirk, we better be the best at SMGs. hailstorm can be fun too.

the NS SMGs arent terrible but most VS infiltrators i fight dont often use SMGs some every once in awhile, but i play against groups that often have that hacker among them with an aimbot. but more often than not they are using scout rifles or side arms. hell they'll use knives more than they use SMGs in general.

and agreed nokta, any inflitrator spotting in the middle of the enemy lines deserves to be shot for stupidity and has 0 right to complain.

I really, really, really wish there was an implant to allow infiltrators to whisper.

Also, I've recently graduated from SMGs to the stalker cloak Comissioner. I actually find it much easier than spraying and praying, even for close range panic fights.

Is there a way to make the cloak harder to see so they won't able to spot me running?

The new implant might ease your life, but you'll ALWAYS be visible while running. There's no way around it.

Only way to truly limiting your shimmer is crouch-walking or well... standing still. Walking, running and jumping will make you very visible to the keen eye of the vets ;)

Amen, i've actually popped a cloaked runner out of the air with my .44 once. he went to run and jump off the edge of the tower using the grav lift to soften his fall, caught em just after he peaked on his jump.

oh boy, Sirius is king. I bought the Sirius first, and I loved it, probably my favorite weapon from the VS. But it's a beginner's weapon, easier to use. I'm not saying Eridani is bad though, it just requires more skill to use and is less forgiving.
