Why do I die instantly - please help!
Hi - please help!!!:)

I keep losing every single gun fight, even to guys ranked 2! (I am level 25) and I do not know why...many times, I will get killed even before I manage to start shooting - this is in close combat situations (I am not talking about a long range infiltrator bullet coming out of nowhere).
I lose 99.99% of 1 to 1 gun fights...I keep shooting, I know I am inflicting damage and yet, my opponent, even though he reacts more slowly, manages to kills me easily.

The things I suspect are causing this are my hardware and my internet connection.

I have intel i5 4660 3.2 GHz 8GB RAM, all cores unparked graphic card: NVIDIA GTX 960 2 GB
I have a braodband internet connection: download speed: 20 Mbps upload speed: 7,5 Mbps ping: 16 ms FPS: 60 though it can get up to 120 at times

so these stats, though far from ideal, do not seem that bad and yet i just keep dying...i kind of feel like cannon meat in the game, an easy kill so other players can enjoy the game...
can anyone please tell me if it's down to my internet, my hardware so i can just stop bothering with this game...

and i know how important situation awareness is, practice and team play....i have tried that...but something is wrong if I manage to crawl behind an enemy, start firing from a close range, meanwhile he turns back and I drop dead in an instant, having emptied my entire mag...

i am way to frustrated with this bull...
thanks for any feedback;)

Yeah, I used to play PS2 from my old computer and using WiFi some four years ago (back in 2013), and it was a nightmare for CQCing. While my WiFi offered your typical 56Mbps with a negligable packet loss on paper, it actually did create this subtle amount of delay and minor errors with positioning or fine actions, which was almost invisible for longer-range engagements or in simply more slow-paced military games such as ArmA, but in cqc both here and there, this almost nonexistant delay meant the odds were rarely in my favor. Right now, with a beefy computer (and even then, after I got bored and set up an actual cable), CQC is finally within my grasp, and I oftentimes am this 'other guy that just instantly turns around and you're dead'. Well, more often than not, I turn around before you actually get a drop on me due to having louder sounds and always-maximized map, but that's beside the point.

Another tip, and I really only now feel the benefit of doing that, is to start out as a sniper-infiltrator. If you're TR, you may want to get RAMS.50 instead of your starting DMR. First, it teaches you discipline - in that, you should only take shots you know you can get; it also allows you to train your aim, get a better 'feeling' of the in-game ranges, but most of all, by observing the enemies' movements you will be able to see what impossibly dense morons your enemies are how exactly your enemy chooses cover, what's their priority when they are about to cross some open area and so forth. Once you get the grasp on basic sniping and positioning (don't be one of those guys who just enable-disable their cloaks and don't move anywhere between shots until their mags are dry), you'd also have a better understanding of what situations and places you should avoid as a non-sniper class.

hi again

yes - my wifi seems to be the culprit, even though, on paper it is supposed to be up to 300 Mbs (as my provider has told me recently)

i was playing last night, even managed to take out a couple of sunderers and tanks but it was more sheer luck than anything else;)

well, it turns out that i am in range for a fixed line internet access - only 20Mbs, though....i have a technician come in tomorrow to hook it up so i'll see if there's any improvement with such a low speed but supposedly no data loss

thank you very much everybody for all your input and advice - it was VERY helpful and i hope to enjoy the game more with my fixed line...so i hope to see you in PS2 sometime soon:)

Sure, you're welcome.
Also, just in case, most WiFi routers are actually incapable of providing more than 56Mbps over the 'air' in total (both incoming and outgoing connections across all connected devices summed), so while the internet all the way to your router might indeed be Gigabitethernet or fiberoptic 300Mbps, your actual connection would almost certainly not be that high unless your router is one of those multichannel multiantennae expensive devices, which, let's be honest, you're unlikely to own since you just typically don't need one at all. In that spirit, cable is always more reliable and has greater bandwidth.

I live in a G7 country that still have 3rd world internet. I've been running 10Mbs for years (used to be half of it up until 5 years ago) and I've always played online FPS without any problem. Sad part is, 10Mbs is just nominal, and you won't usually get more that 1.3/1.5 Mbs in download.

Bandwith is not the factor when you play online games though, it's reliability and consistency and decent routing that you strive for. People used to play decently with a 2Mbs with fast routing (5 to 40ms latency in most of the EU).

The only crappy part about a 20Mbs, especially with low upload bandwith, is that you won't be streaming anything, it will take forever to upload videos, and you won't be able to download or stream naked woman movies while playing online at the same time.

Oh, and be ready to leave your PC on during the night for them lenghty downloads.

It was about the statement that implies:
"No skill take a tank."

I don't say using Tanks is easiest thing ever, but it is easier to spam a lot of kills with tanks than with any other possibility i.e. by camping around a spawnroom.

I actualy don't see any fun in doing this, but a lots of people do.

Are you playing heavy assault, if not play that and it gets 10000000000000% easier to get kills.
kuba4fun Jun 12, 2017 @ 5:50pm
so I am still waiting to have my fixed line installed...in the meantime I am playing heavy assault - yup, getting a bit better at it, managed to win some 1-on-1 gun fights, getting to know the game, the squad play, communications and so on...

i noticed that whenever we play against the Conglomerate, we basically kick ass big time but those Vanu guys are something else...so tough to win against and their magrider or something, almost invincible....has that been your experience as well?

Well, as a TR and [recently] NC player, I'd say, Vanu are also my least favorite guys to fight against. They are not numerous most of the time, but when they attack, "the zerg is strong with them". Magriders seem to be powerful enough to outmaneuver most other tanks, and most pilots do use it to their advantage; same goes for scythes. Infantry... I'd say, their MAXes are a bit too similar to their infantry (also, I never hear the MAX footsteps from them. Regular steps - yeah, but not the heavy clunking sound Coalition's or Republic's make), and their equipment has the biggest camouflage surface area of all empitres - which is just a minor issue, but still. As far as I can tell, they also have the biggest percentage of "skilled oldies", which makes them more "meta" powerful on average.

With the NC, I like many of their weapons - much more than I liked TRs, really - but those are only good when your teammates are shooting the enemy and are not too busy shooting each other. I mean, that leaves my medic class swimming in :Cert:, but that's not all that comforting when you see your faction losing many a fight because an allied Harasser decided to run over ten players, or a Liberator mistakes blue armor for red and bombards allies for good five minutes.

The biggest Isuue is the asymetric Balancing in PS2. It is working good as ♥♥♥♥, if it's working, but most the time it doesn't.

its the people using recurrsion to hack the game and they can change the hitboxes so that if they hit you anywhere it counts as headshot. a lot of vanu snipers you'll see dont have a head, dont have a name, and aimbot you from 800+ meters away, sometimes they wont even be facing you. the koreans and asian server people are on connery cause they get 3000+ ping there and you see them bouncing around just killing people lagging all over the pace. and the cherry on top none of these things will be addressed let alone fixed unless day break found a way to make more money out of it, which they are right now as the koreans just use a bunch of money on araxiums and cosmetics

Recursion is a program that tracks your character's stats in real time and displays them in an overlay. You can also run custom voicepacks that will play quips when you perform certain feats.

so I had my fixed (wired) line installed today...ping 21, good upload...but there is no change at all as far as the game goes...no difference between wifi and this wired connection...i keep on dying from one or two shots, enemies keep popping out of nowhere, i lose 1-on-1 gun fights, enemies always manage to spot me first and kill me immediately...

I watched some of the yt vids showing gameplay of other players and they do manage to get some kills and win some fights...I, on the other hand, count myself lucky if I get 1 kill before I get taken out...so either this fixed line of mine is no good (but speedtests (various) show stabile stats) or I just plainly suck at shooters;) but it does feel, given my current gameplay, that one would need uber-human reflexes to win anything....

and i am not talking about ramboing my way through a swarm of enemy troops...it just would be cool to win with someone from time to time...

it does seem like the enemy gets to spot me first and react first...i thought it would change with this wired line but nope, not really...i am really disappointed and at a loss of what to do next...

Thanks a lot for all the responses - it does help.

I play on Miller (Europe), I usually play the TR and I have a wifi broadband connection, which as I have found out, because of its wireless technology, is prone to data packet loss and is inferior in its efficacy to a fixed line, not to mention a fiber connection.

Has anyone else been playing PS on wifi? If so, do you experience similar problems?

Long story short: you cannot play online FPS games with a WiFi internet, it's as simple as that. Get a cable.
yeah i learned this long ago, its stable, really hard to disrupt, and cutting and crimping your own custom legnth cable is stupid easy.
