bless u can still play online gray and i do it all the time. u would need to get tunngle and play tho lan. so it is possible for u to play with people with out code

You don't need the key, the key is for the ubisoft servers, which are unstable.
So you would be better of with LAN through tunngle

The code was for the Ubisoft servers, but since it got shut down, you don't need that code anymore.
