Metal detector.

I've talked to all the cats but none of them give me the metal detector. I have finished all the quests. Is there something else I need to do?

If I recall correctly you get it by finding all the cats that look like mice / rats in the laboratory that is accessed via the tavern -> stairs -> tavern basement laboratory -> talk to the cat that is there once you have done that. Just make sure that you go through getting the potion etc 1st, then do the cats (mice) then talk to the cat that is in that room.
