There are the less obvious elemental meisters and ultra crafties, which apply to the elemental physical attacks as well as spells.
Then there are the various physical crit related ones like Critical Sensation and Adrenaline rush. There's also rando-muster and the rando/instant oomphs. Miraculous touch is decent for staying power. If dealing with an L sized physical attacker, Collective Punishment is worth considering.
The status touches can be interesting if combine with the related ultra crafty or collective punishment.
Also there are the generically useful ones like the various tactical traits are definitely worth considering too, especially if its on an S sized monster.
That should cover most of the bases, unless you meant talents instead.
The initial go to ones are the ones related to making the Hair Splitter talent. Spicy, Stoney, Soggy, Blowy slashes, and then the middle combination ones of Freezer Burner, Air Fryer, Freeze Popper, and Storm Brewer. Pay attention to the skills in the combination ones, as they contain a number of the better physical skills, and most of the better physical skill sets will contain a couple. This set of talents are kind of the generic all around physical ones.
After which, you might want to look at ones like Duelist, Martial Maven, Maniac, Pest Controller, and Warmonger.
You just kinda have to find which of the other sets have skills that either fit the monster in question's traits or a more specific niche than just generic physical attacker. Much like how its better to pick a more tailored and fitting casting talent than just defaulting to Perfect Speller.
I'd have to say the best physical skill is Sword Dance; only 15 MP means very sustainable - and hitting more than 4 times means breaking the damage cap, which my Nokturnus was always hitting even against the final bosses (without oomph/sap).
Sword Dance is available on a number of different sets, most of which are Agility themed. Vaudvillan seems like the best intermediate source since it also has tongue bashing
...Which makes me curious how the different skills scale; If the AGI scaling on Fan Dango is higher than the STR scaling on Sword Dance for example.
...
Other than that, ya - without knowing how different moves scale it's impossible to make a determination objectively. IE: Sword Dance Vs. Multifist. I could put Maniac on Nokturnus to see which he prefers since that set contains both.
Hypothetically Shining Shot should be the best attack skill even though it's elemental. In this case the test kit would be Just Ruler since it has Fan Dango - but they scale off different things.
